My carnivorous buddy was craving a Wisconsin burger, and Rally Time Sports Bar & Grill looked like the perfect spot to satisfy that craving. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment.
The sign reads “Bar & Grill,” and the website showcases tempting food photos and positive menu reviews. From the outside, it looks like the kind of place that serves up great bar food. Inside, the cozy log cabin vibe and multiple TVs made it seem like an awesome place to watch a game, enjoy live music, or grab a bite with friends.
Sadly, the reality didn’t match the expectations. Aside from the bartender, there were only two other patrons in the bar. We had to approach the bar ourselves before even being acknowledged. When we asked for menus and whether they served food, the bartender simply said, “Not today,” offering no explanation. It was 3:45 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon — prime time for food service — which left us both puzzled and disappointed.
It’s a shame, because the atmosphere had real potential. Unfortunately, the lack of service and unclear communication made for an unwelcoming experience.
We discovered that West Bend offers plenty of amazing locations, so in the end I was happy to take my business elsewhere and, regrettably, I’m unlikely to return to this “bar (but NOT grill)” if I ever find myself in...
Read moreMy husband and I came in on his birthday in June. It was around 4:30 in the afternoon. We had two family members and my one year old daughter. Like literally just turned 1 two days prior. We were looking for somewhere simple to get food. Figured Rally Time. Figured we could sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and some burgers right? No. We walk in, baby in daddy's arms, and we are greeted by the bartender who told us, "Sorry you can't have one of those in here" and proceeded to point to my daughter. Needless to say I can see the smoke coming out of my husband's ears as our daughter was just referred to as "one of those" instead of a "baby" or "child." We asked if we could just sit outside, we're here for food not the bar, but after the same response was given I had to push my husband outside before the situation escalated. I understand that certain places have rules on children in their establishments but it was a little disrespectful on how it was approached. The final salt on the wound however was two weeks later. When my friend went with her little two year old that's the same size as my big one year old and was served just fine. How come she could let in,...
Read moreSo a few weeks ago, my BF and I stopped in to try the place out. It was around lunch time. We received good service and I was impressed with the man cooking. (you can watch as the grill area is open) He wore a hat, used gloves when handling the food and practiced food safety procedures. Fast forward a couple weeks, we returned, night and day. We arrived a little later and the man was just leaving. And his replacement was a woman who looked as if she had woke up late for work. She had a dirty sweatshirt on, hair down, and first thing she did was get water and cook food for herself. As I watched her work for awhile I saw her not using gloves, wiping her nose, never saw her wash her hands even after wiping the nose. Hair down, I don't like hair in my food, or snot for that matter. We decided not to order food at that point, Duh. I will not...
