First-time eating at this restaurant. I usually never give online reviews, but I thought I would give my honest two cents. I was introduced to this restaurant by this website called Local Flavor, which gives a certificate for dine-ins. I was very excited since I saw so many google reviews.
I was blind-sided when I saw that the restaurant had a policy for Local Flavor Certificate users. The $30 Coupon Value was equated to only $27.90 worth, and was not usable for House Specials or Seafood (see picture). I felt a bit cheated about this. You had to let the restaurant know before you order your food that you are using the certificate (also see picture). I felt that they might be stingy with portions knowing that you are using the certificate..?
In the beginning, I ordered the crab rangoons as appetizers. I understand that they deep-fry them from the freezer/ refigerator, but the cream cheese in the middle was still cold when I bit into them.(their 6 crab ragoons was about ~$6.95 or so)
My son ordered the Pad See Ew, which I have to give them credit for, is good. I had their curry. Compared to other Thai restuarants around the area, ex. Asiasna and Lemongrass, it was mediocre, and I think could be better (See picture). I paid extra $2 for shrimp, which I also thought could be more flavorful, and the vegetable (a bit undercooked). I came at 6:30 PM on a weekday; There were no one there except for us and another couple.
Like the other google commentors said, I would not recommend coming here if you are thinking of using a Local Flavor certificate. The process of paying for the meals was confusing. I think the owner was upset that we were using the certificate after she showed the check with the full meal prices ($40 after tax). She told me she would only take $27.90 and took my credit card and my phone, which had the QR code certificate. We waited, and she did not give it back until I came to the front counter to collect both my phone, the paid check, and my credit card. When I saw how much I paid, I realized that she deducted $27.90 after the tax, not PRIOR. Which completely did not align or made sense since that was their reason why they decreased the Local Flavor certificate value from $30 to $27.90. I know it is only a couple dollars, but I still felt cheated regardless. Overall experience, it was underwelming. From other reviews, it seems like other people have gone through the same...
Read moreWe were in the area and did a Google maps search for something local and found Chao Phraya - and what a pleasant surprise! We love trying new Thai places anyway, so we went for it. We were the first customers for dinner tonight it seemed, were greeted and seated promptly, and immediately were greeted again by our friendly waitress.
We ordered crab Rangoon and chicken satay for appetizers, both of which came out quickly and were delicious! Loved their peanut sauce for the chicken! While we were enjoying them, our waitress surprised us each with a bowl of chicken and rice soup, on the house! Also delish!
When we got our appetizers, we when ahead and ordered our entrees - sweet and sour chicken stir fry (which my wife made some substitutions on some of the veggies that they gladly accommodated) with white rice, and chicken pad Thai, medium spice level for myself.
Again, the food came out quickly, was presented gorgeously, and was plenty hot. The stir fry in particular looked as good as it tasted! Everything was cooked perfectly, and our waitress made sure our water glasses were always filled and everything was to our satisfaction.
With tip, we spent about $50 for the 2 of us, which is on par with other Thai restaurants in the area that we frequent.
We've passed by this location multiple times over the years and never noticed this place. It's in an older strip mall where there says a few other restaurants. So we're glad we googled and found it! The dining room was clean and bright and tables nicely prepared. Great place for either a date night or to bring the family.
We both agreed that this is one of our new favorites for Thai in the West Chester area... Probably in the top 2. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced, and you can't beat the service. We will definitely be...
Read moreThis is my 2nd visit. I have to say the first visit in 2022 was 5 stars. That's why I took my friend tonight to eat there. It was her first time there. She ordered the Pho with beef. After she had one bite she made a face at me. I asked if she put too much soy sauce in it. She shook her head and showed me what was on her spoon.... 😳 a fruit fly. Then we proceeded to count how many more, we stopped at 7. I never touched my dish (green curry, pork) and let the server/manager know...told him I just wanted to pay for our drinks and appetizer (thai iced teas and fresh rolls) he did offer to remake the dish, I declined. One or two, I understand...7 nope! You can check my reviews, I rarely give 1 stars. I'm so disappointed. We didn't even finish our thai iced teas and he charged us anyway. Won't be back, I'm sorry. That's not how you handle a dish having so many insects at a table. Now we are at Genki Ramen. Have never had a bad experience here. I feel terrible that my friends first experience was so terrible. $16 dollars spent on a terrible experience. Oh and there was another table there that ordered after we received our food, they came over to our table and were aghast as when they saw them as well. Please dear sirs, check the food before it goes out and...
