What happened over here?
First, this has been one of my favorite pizzerias since 2018. My son has liked it a couple years longer than me. I come from an Italian family, so this place, when I started going to it, was very nostalgic. Plus, I started going when COVID hit. So, many of the people who worked at this location were mostly family as that had shut down their other joints downtown with the lockdowns.
Now, I took a break from this place for about six months, and when I came back, the entire staff looked like they changed, aside from some of the cooks back there. But overall, the people taking orders, I don’t know what’s going on here. And also, the flies in the food. I couldn’t believe it.
First, I decided to visit here yesterday, and the cashier, first, he didn’t want to acknowledge me. I don’t think it’s that he didn’t want to, but I don’t know the new system that they developed. But yeah, I had a person who ran in, complained that their food was wrong. And then, as someone like myself who knows this place, it’s hard to believe because, again, they’ve always had good service here. And then, of course, I get bypassed again. So, I decide to walk out.
I decide to come back today, and I start to notice a trend. Most of the pizza is not left out, and I’m not understanding why, as they usually have pizza on display. But then, I order my favorite, which I see there. But then, I start to watch and wait, and I start to see something strange. Flies all over the pizza, flying around on the pizza, on the pizza, crawling on it.
Now, getting a refund was easy at this point. But wow, what has happened to this place? Just with the cleanliness, and then the new cashiers here, they didn’t understand what a pop is. But, man, and I hate to give this place a bad review because, again, this has been one of my favorite pizza joints in the past couple years.
But obviously, there’s been a huge change here in the service, as well as the quality of the food. And the fact that you could just walk into the store, and you already have people who are complaining about being served wrong. I think the owners need to take a step in and see what’s going on here.
I hope to come back in the next couple of months, and hopefully, the quality and the service can get back to what...

Take me to Bacci Pizzeria
Let me introduce you to Bacci Pizzeria's Jumbo Pizza slices and their 30" Jumbo hand tossed pizza.
A slice of pizza that is big enough to be a complete meal. You know you have a treat in store when an extra table is needed for your pizza.
Bring all your friends and relatives, because you will need all the help you can get to finish this pizza.
Be aware: it takes approximately 25 minutes, but it is well worth the wait.
Insider tip: If you go on Tuesday, their signature 30"Jumbo hand tossed Pizza and a 2 liter of coke is only $39.95
We also had some great Detroit style pizza served with their own homemade Gardiniera (which was delicious).
It is a disservice to think that pizza is all that they have because some of the other options are outstanding in their own right.
Such as: THEIR FRESH BABY CLAMS APPETIZER:. Sauted fresh baby clams servied with garlicl, basil, tomato, and pomodoro sauce. Served over homemade bread. Their homemade bread is so good that I could have a meal of just bread with their delicious pomodoro sauce on it alone.
BACCI WINGS: We had ours tossed in Garlic Parmesan, one of their most popular items. You have your choice of 5 different sauces.
RIGATONI WITH VODKA SAUCE: The texture on the pasta was perfect, not too soft, and not too hard. It's just a little crunchy, just the way we like it, and the sauce is crazy good. They make the pasta and the sauce fresh for each order. That's why it takes a little longer. but that's why it tastes so delicious and fresh.
ANNA'S HOMEMADE TIRAMISU: The bottom had a sponge cake texture that complements the mascarpone cream with bittersweet bies of coffee-flavored cake that is dusted with cocoa powder.
Insider tip: You will not go wrong with ordering any of Bobby's favorites from the menu, really delicious!
We visited the Taylor Street location, one of the 4 in Chicago.

Read moreI had one of the worst customer service experiences yesterday at the Taylor Street location. I ordered for pick up on their website and when I got to the restaurant the lady working at the counter told me she didn’t have my order. Apparently, Bacci’s uses a 3rd party service (Slice) for online orders (THEIR website directly takes you there) and there was a glitch in their communication. No worries, i understand that things can happen, but this lady completely dismissed me. She kept repeating “I don’t have your order.” Well ok then, can you refund my money??? She says “No, you went thru a 3rd party. Contact Slice for your money.” Say what now??? I tried to show her the text messages showing my order and she walked away from me. Mind you, the restaurant was empty. Even the cook was like “what’s your order? I’ll make it right now.” And she tells him she doesn’t have my order. I reply to the confirmation text that I’m at the restaurant and having trouble getting my food. A minute later their phone rings and she says “that’s probably them calling now.” Well it was. And she tells them to check the device they are using because it’s not working. This woman never attempted to rectify the situation with me and acted like it was my fault for using a third party service when it was THEIR website that uses the third party service! Finally, my order is ready (about 45 min. since I initially placed the order online). She hands me the bag. No eye contact, no apology, no thank you. I mouth “thank you” to the cook and he smiles back. Unfortunately, I won’t ever order from...
