I'm a fresh transplant to the city and I decided to go out and try Redhot Ranch today. I had some extra cash on me and I was hungry and in the area and had heard good things.
I ordered a hotdog and fries and a double cheese burger with fries, both with everything. Even though it was right around 4:30, it wasn't too crowded. Be aware that they are cash only, but there is an ATM inside in case you forget.
My food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh off the grill and out of the fryer. It was a pretty efficient and fast experience to get my food.
When I got out to the car I decided to start with the hot dog. Over all it was a great hot dog. It had a good snap to it. The fries are wrapped up on top of the hot dog and you will probably need to snack on some before you're ready to take a bite out of the dog, but I think it's best to leave as many as you can on the dog. the other toppings were onions, relish, mustard, and sport peppers made for an interesting crunchy, tangy and savory experience. I think I prefer the more traditional 'dragged through the garden' hot dog. It was a really decent red hot though. The hand cut fries are deliciously crispy too!
I was half way home when I had to break out the double cheese burger. I wanted to try it while it was still hot and fresh and traffic on Western was pretty bad. Redhot Ranch's burgers are a uniquely mid-western kind of smash burger where they press it out on the grill so the edges get super thin and crispy. It really adds a special element to the burger. It's topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and special sauce. It all combines together to make one of the best fast food style burgers I've ever had. This might be my new favorite spot for a quick snack when I want an unpretentious burger.
This food is legitimately good. It's not fine dining, but it defies it's price point. I ordered what amounts to basically lunch for two people and bill was under $14. You can't beat that! Dollars to quality, I choose this place over Small Cheval up the...
Read moreI have a couple of notes on this! There are no pictures because it’s a very small place. The tables to eat are outside. The inside is not necessarily built for people to eat inside. It’s very much an express place to go to. We opted to get the food and eat in the car because there’s no noise coming from the train(maybe you prefer that) and also it seems like a cleaner option give the fact that the train is right above where you could potentially sit at a table. The food is amazing! Been here a couple times and it never fails! my favorite are the shrimp 🦐 but of course, there are other options you can choose from like their incredible hotdogs and fries. This is great for a quick pick up whenever you’re looking for something rapid and not necessarily healthy 🤭 they give you your order quickly.
This is a cash only place, the great thing is that they have an ATM inside the place, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about if you don’t have cash on you. I find this very thoughtful of them and saves time I would take if it weren’t there. The staff is always super nice and polite! So I highly recommend...
Read moreI’ve always loved coming to Red Hot Ranch — the burgers are consistently on point: fresh, flavorful, and just what you want when you’re craving a classic. However, during a recent visit, I experienced something that really left a bad impression. While I was waiting for my order, an employee wearing a Looney Tunes shirt began yelling at the cashier in a way that was loud, aggressive, and incredibly unprofessional. It got so uncomfortable that other customers and I started looking at each other in disbelief. The cashier, to her credit, stayed quiet and composed, but it was clear she was being berated unfairly. The man kept shouting things like “Go tell Johnny,” and the whole scene just felt like workplace bullying.
It was upsetting to witness and made the atmosphere really tense. No one should be subjected to that kind of treatment, especially not in front of customers. I felt embarrassed for her, and I think it’s important to call out this kind of behavior. Great food should always be matched by a respectful environment — both for customers...
