Changing my review to a 1. I have had 2 more negative experiences with the hostess with the heavy accent. Very rude, angry. Today, we call for a reservation for a 4:30 table, yes 4:30 - and she tells me we can only squeeze your party of 6 in a booth and proceeds to ask me if anyone is large or overweight in my party. How is that even professional? We are to the point where we will not come to this restaurant unless she is no longer working there. Find it very hard to believe there are no other reservations for 4:30pm. Time before this, the chef messed my out simple white pizza order 3 times!! How is that even possible? A plain white pizza?
Despite the grumpy hostess, we like this place overall. The food is good, kid's entrees and ice cream are great, and the wait service is always nice. The only negative is the hostess. The other day we came in and I asked for a table for 4 with 2 kids menus. She snapped back - 4 PLUS 2 kids or 4 including the kids? I explained 4 total and then she proceeds to take us to a tiny booth with other 2-top patrons sitting. I asked to sit at a larger booth when there were MANY open and it was a big deal for the hostess, she had to go check on reservations, and was not happy to do this. Meanwhile we have 2 toddlers, diaper bags, kid's toys, my husband is 6'5 and a small booth for 2 people is not ideal for our family. She accomodated our request and I noticed that NO other family of 4 were asked to sit in the small booths, so not sure why she was insistant that we did. Overall, we will come back b/c we like the food and wait staff just hoping the hostess was just having...
Read moreChester County waited a long time, but West Chester Picas was worth the wait. It's a brand new building, so it's much roomier and classier than the Upper Darby Picas. The menu presentation is an upgrade too. Another positive change is the placement of the very nice bar and tavern area to the back and side of the building. One of the best features Picas saved, was giving the large dining area the feeling of several smaller areas for a more intimate experience. A good choice. The food as always is beyond words. Anything with their trademark tomato sauce will make you ask for more. Granted, the owners and management were overwhelmed by the incredible numbers of hungry transplanted fans on opening week. We went at 5:30 on a Wednesday, two weeks later, with reservations (!!!) and there was still a short wait. And they really seemed to need help at the host desk and lobby. Later on the evening we were there, they even made some older Immaculate Heart Sister's wait !!!! But all in all, the service was great, the food spectacular as always, and the Chester County touch, a welcome up-grade. Knowing my husband's Drexel Hill roots, the late Frank Pica's granddaughter, Angela, came to our table to greet us telling us of her plans to hang pictures of old Upper Darby on the walls. Hmmmm.....As we drove home we thought, sweet Angela- it's a great place. If you hang any pictures keep them black and white in identical frames, and to a minimum. Keep it classy. Keep it simple. It may be the same awesome Picas, but it's Pica's WEST CHESTER. Blessings on your new...
Read moreDined for lunch on Friday 3/3/17. Very disappointed. Arrived at 1:15 and the dining room and bar area was half filled. Several people were waiting in the lobby to be seated. Registered at the desk and was told there was a 10 minute wait or could self seat at the bar. Seemed like they didn't have enough staff working to accommodate customers. After 15 minutes, we were seated and greeted by a very welcoming server. Lots of empty tables but lack of servers - really on a Friday? Roasted peppers were served with a warm delicious Italian round loaf and butter. The peppers were warm and delicious and the bread crusty and soft on the inside. Lunch was served timely. The Chicken Alfredo ($18) was less than expected. The fettuccine was substituted for angel hair pasta as requested but the entire contents were "floating" in the Alfredo sauce. It looked more like a bowl of soup and tasted like a can of Alfredo poured over the pasta and chicken not a homemade sauce. The picture was taken after several portions were eaten. The chicken parm sandwich was like a "grinder" ($10) and was a generous size and included a side of coated french fries. The red sauce was delicious. Soda's are $2.50 with free refills. Other customers were eating pizza which was a flat bread pizza served on cookie sheets. This restaurant is known for it's pizza but the menu is not the same as the Delco restaurant. I would recommend the Chicken Parm sandwich but stay away from the Alfredo dishes. They also offer a kids menu....
