Red Pier Cajun Seafood & Bar - Service Rd. — Restaurant in West Memphis

If you're wanting really good seafood AND service, give this place a hard pass. Stay on the road and drive a few more miles to Marion Arkansas to The Seafood Shack. Our visit on Saturday, January 14, 2023 was the first and last. The place was NOT busy at all. Service was very slow. It took too long for us (2 people) to be seated, and far too long to have our order taken. We ordered alligator appetizer and the meat was way overcooked - tough and chewy - absolutely the worst I've ever eaten! Then the entrée finally arrived. The shrimp was very good...prepared and cooked well and properly. However, the crawfish tasted a bit off and the clams (the few were eaten) each were full of grit/sand. The server tried to convince us it was the seasoning that was gritty. Really?? I've been eating seafood many years, it was NOT the seasoning!! The sausage/potato/corn on the cob were good. The (whole) egg that was in the boil bag was horribly overcooked - rubbery white, and yolk had a thick green surround due to boiling too long. Just gross!! Yeah, this place is newish, and short-staffed, but that's no excuse for such slow snail-paced service and food that is mediocre at best overall - especially when the restaurant was at approximately one quarter capacity of customers. Oh yeah, the server stood at the table and waited for the debit card receipt to be signed and tip. RUDE RUDE RUDE!! Attention servers out there!!!! NEVER EVER make your customers feel rushed to pay the bill and your tip by standing at the table and hovering over them when you've only been by the table ONCE to check on your customers. The one great thing was the sweet tea. BUT, we had to wait about 15 minutes on refill.

Stopped in while traveling and LOVED this place! The menu items and great prices online got us in the door, and the food had us HOOKED! Our server was lovely and we never went long needing anything before she either to came to check on us, or just being observant on her way by, we'd easily catch her eye. We tried the Friday special boil with the Red Pier Seasoning and LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEDDDD the flavor!! It almost had a Jamaican Jerk kick to it... Idk what the spices are that go into Jerk seasoning, but some of those very Jerk-Specific flavors are definitely in play. Mouth watering just thinking about it! We also got the Calamari appetizer. I've definitely paid more for the same amount, plenty of times, and this was GREAT calamari! Nice size rings inside perfect breading and served with like a Sweet and Sour sauce... NEVER had that combination before and... I may need S&S sauce in my calamari dip line up, forever more!! The kids meals are well priced and the popcorn shrimp and fries were a hit with my kid. We even got a couple beers (and they had wine) all well priced on the menu (besides the wine coolers, but hey there's no cocktails and if you want it, you pay, just like anywhere else lol). I guess we've grown accustomed to free coloring kids menus, so I didn't even think to bring something for my kid to do, but the fun nautical theme throughout was a little distraction till the food arrived (which was also super FAST). Me, my son and friend went here the last Friday night of the year. Food was good the young lady that seated us was excellent. Once the server came out got our beverages, seem to be in a rush with the order. My friend ordered 2 garlic breads she brought 1 one then later came back to the table and said the other 1 had came out we were finished eating by then. Didnt come to check on us. She put everything on one ticket my friend decided to pay for her own. Once she came back with the 2 separate receipts prior to then I told my friend to hand me my debit card. Put it in the folder to pay for me and my son. In my folder I had 3 receipts I signed 2 and kept the long one noticing my card wasnt on there. So we set there another 30 minutes after talking didn't realize my debit card was not returned. Made it home no more stops....realized she didn't return my card I immediately called the staff said they didn't find the card. Called back Saturday still no card seen. The waiter came in after four called back she didn't get on the phone but another lady came to the phone and said she said she didn't see no card. How was my card ran on online if she didn't swipe the card? The lady put me on hold to look in the box where the cards are kept!!!
