New Pizza On The Block — Restaurant in West New York

My job has used New Pizza on the block to cater a few events and I enjoyed the food. I decided on 01/04/20 to order lunch. My coworkers often joke of how difficult i am when it comes to ordering. I called the restaurant and spoke with a gentleman named Cruz, a very patient and professional man. I ordered penne vodka and sauteed spinach. One of my coworkers initially said she didn't want anything and once the food arrived her story changed. Needless to say the portion of food that you get was more than enough I was able to share with her and take the remainder home for dinner. Now let's get to the flavor. It was delicious. When I take the leftovers out for dinner my 18 year old son smells it and ask to try it. People say when you let food sit how the flavors just marinate. Woo-hoo those flavors had a party inside my mouth, I enjoyed it even more for dinner. My son enjoyed it so much when I went to work on Tuesday I ordered lunch again from there and ordered penne vodka with grilled chicken for my son. Yes I recommend to eat here! I had a horrible experience last night, I went there to pick up, and they said it's $53. Then I gave them my credit card, then they just charged me $54.69 WITHOUT saying anything. There was no notice anywhere about the additional credit card fee. Then I complained about it, the guy just said, "everyone does that these days, and it's ONLY $1-2 more". How unprofessional and shady business that is! They didn't get my point. I was not complaining about the amount of $$, I was complaining about their unprofessionalism. Also, some small stores or restaurants charge credit card fee, NOT everyone does. At least, they inform to customers before they just charge to credit card. Anyway, they void my credit card and I just paid with cash, there was no apology for their rudeness. If they want to charge additional 3% credit card fee, they should put a note at cashier or they should have informed to customers BEFORE they just charge to my credit card. Really great food, I cannot say enough about this place. I really enjoy all of their pasta dishes, one of my favorite dinners is pasta with garlic and oil Broccoli and chicken. It is fantastic. I especially love the extra virgin olive oil they use in all their saute dishes. Hermes Cruz is trully Italian in heart lol. Cruz always treats me right. He always goes out of his way to make your visit really special. I have know Cruz a very long time 30 plus years and one thing I have to say he never changes. Pizza is also great and he stays open late. I remember someone came in 5 minutes to close and they were hungry. Cruz said please order anything you would like you cannot leave hungry. The customer ordered and thanked him for staying later. Cruz answered the customer and said thank you for coming here to eat. Cruz later told me how can I tell this customer I am closed when he was hungry and everything was closed. Trully a good businessman...
