UPDATE 09/08 I’m going to leave my original review below so people can see that I was a supporter and enjoyed their food but they did me so dirty this time around, I can’t stay shut.

I placed an order on their Website and was charged in advance. Upon arrival, they inform me that on their end, they never received my order. I show them my receipt and they start making it. After 15 minutes, I get my order. This is where the problem starts. They tell me because they never received my order, they also never received the payment.

Mind you I had the receipt from their website AND my bank transaction to prove it. Despite this, they were attempting to have me PAY TWICE. Am I wrong for thinking, how is it my problem that you’re having technical issues? Your website TOOK my money and my order, YOU guys didn’t receive it. How is that on me? And to then assume I would pay $28 for steak tacos is insanity.

After a back and forth, they told me to take them. Then when I open the order, the tacos were DISGUSTING. I ordered steak tacos and they were so chewy and unseasoned, it was disgusting.

Yall should learn how to treat your customers. The instant disrespect was wild. Not to mention, I’ve supported this place various times. Ordering here with my coworkers during our lunch, passing by alone for dinner. NEVER AGAIN. I’ve already informed my company and we will never order from yall again.

I ordered the chicken tacos, chicken flautas, chorizo tacos and chorizo burrito. My favorite was the Flautas & Tacos.

The Chicken tacos could use a bit more seasoning but they were solid overall. The Chorizo tacos were perfect. The Flautas were crunchy and delicious.

The burrito wasn’t my favorite but I think it was more of a personal preference so I won’t fault them for that.

We’ve tried a lot of authentic Mexican eateries and restaurants in West New York, Union City, Weehawken and North Bergen, many of them very good and even excellent, but Avila’s Taqueria is at another level.

When I had their carnitas for the first time, it was an indescriptible experience… the best carnitas I’ve ever had outside of Mexico!!! After ordering a few times, I visited them in person because I was in the area, and it was even better! Such a clean place and extraordinary service. Very courteous and accommodating. I asked to have some cueritos in the carnitas and they nicely did it. Now I always ask for it.

My wife had cochinita pibil tacos once and she loved it! Apparently it is not available all the time, but it is excellent. The birria tacos are also amazing. Their tacos come in orders of four with double tortillas as it should be!

I strongly recommend this place to anybody who appreciates Mexican cuisine, because there is simply not a better place in miles.

This review is way overdue. I have probably order from there more than 10 times - I must add that every time consistently great- and never had the time to write a review, but today after having my favorite carnitas for lunch, I couldn’t forgive myself if I don’t take a quick break and share my satisfaction with this place. Small little shop like the ones you see back in the motherlands. The men working there were super efficient, said hello as you walked in.

I got the chicken tacos. Could have used a little more flavor but overall they were solid. Their Salsa Verde was delicious as well. I ordered and picked up my meal all within 10 minutes. Love it.
