Franks Pizza is on the lower level of the West Orange Whole Foods shopping center. It only accepts cash payments. (There is an ATM on premises). I promise despite these factors you won't be disappointed if you seek out this wonderful place.
Franks has been a consistent gem for many years. The family that owns and runs this restaurant/pizzeria have maintained a high standard from day 1. The food is delicious, every standard dish is excellent and freshly prepared. To me the exceptional standouts are the Chicken Francese, Chicken, Contadina, Eggplant Parm sandwich, white pizza with garlic and broccoli and their mouthwatering garlicky chicken with broccoli rabe wrap. My family loves the linguine with white clam sauce (it comes with 4 or 5 fresh baby clams in a fragrant garlic sauce), chicken marsala, baked ziti pizza, and an all around favorite is the square fresh tomato bruschetta pizza with of course garlic ;). Yes I and my family love garlic, but we also love restraint and good tasting food.
A side note, this restaurant and its staff stayed open during the worst of the pandemic serving the community. They would put food in the trunk of your car, allowing those of us desiring a taste of pre-pandemic time to escape via food memories. They and their employees deserve so much by way of thanks and continued patronage.
The ambiance is super clean pizzeria with many booths and several large tables. The takeout is well packaged. The food never disappoints! Whether you are a long time native or are newly discovering West Orange Franks.is one place worth a try. You will keep coming back. My family and I have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries with their food. There are better looking places with tablecloths and candles, but for taste, freshness and consistency this...
Read moreI got take out at Frank’s Pizza last night. I ordered two antipasto salads, wings, calamari, one large cheese pizza, and one large pizza: 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 mushroom. This is one of the worst pizzerias I have ever been to. The antipasto salads consisted of a majority of lettuce with a few tomatoes, cucumbers, and very little meat. The wings were tasteless. There was absolutely no sauce on the wings. While I was placing the order, the man on the phone informed me that the wings were “very spicy.” The appearance of the calamari was completely unappetizing. It was undercooked. The cheese pizza was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. There are pizzerias in Manhattan that cost $1.00 or $1.50, and let me tell you something - the pizza is delicious at these pizzerias! The mushrooms on the pizza were uncooked. The pepperoni pizza was not up to par. I tried calling the restaurant after I got home last night. I called around 9:50 PM and the phone had continuously rang. Prior to writing this review, I called the restaurant this morning to see if they can make this situation better. I told the man on the phone that I’d be writing a horrible review, unless he can make the situation. I spoke to Jose this morning. His customer service was terrible and his English was incomprehensible. He kept telling me what ingredients are in an antipasto salad. He told me I can come in to the restaurant tomorrow and speak to Veronica. However, I am not going to waste my time doing that without knowing what I will be getting in return. He then passed the telephone to another man, who kept telling me he was “very busy.” He then hung up on me. He did not issue any...
Read moreDid some shopping in the West Orange area and the two of us started to get hungry. We had about a 2 hour drive back to the Philly area so we decided on Italian. We did a Google search and found Frank’s Pizza. This pizza shop is located in a shopping center but tucked in a corner next to a fitness center. There appears to be enough parking and spaces dedicated to pickup. We went in to eat and sat ourselves. It really has the pizza shop vibe with pizza on display that could be purchased by the slice. This is written during the Covid time and they followed the protocols as we could see. This is a family owned business as our order was taken by one of the owners. She was just really down to earth and very proud of their business. We settled on spaghetti and meatballs and clams in red sauce over spaghetti. The meals came with a choice of soup or salad and garlic bread. Our meals came out in a normal time. The noodles were done perfect and the meatballs were soft with great flavor. The clams in red sauce came with plenty of chopped clams and four clams in the shell for presentation. The red sauce was also full of flavor and really tasted like “more” but at that point we were stuffed. The place is very clean. It is a cash only business and has a ATM in the store. The bill broke down to about $20.00 per person. As we ate there were several folks coming in for slices and whole pizzas. The dining area started to get busy as we were leaving. If we get a chance to be in the area we no doubt will stop again....
