I had the strangest experience here last week! I have been ordering from this restaurant for over a decade. This time, I came in placed my order, and paid, just like always… then I went next door, to wander the aisles of goodwill (like ya do), and came back 15 minutes later to pick up my order. There was a single male diner sitting by the window. I waited about 10 minutes in the seating area and no one came out. I finally stood up and rang the bell still no one came out. I stood by the back door where I could clearly hear a person moving and said excuse me and was still ignored. Finally a woman emerged from the other side of the counter I smiled and greeted her and she walked by me completely ignoring me, like I didn’t exist. No eye contact, no gestures, nothing! She walked over to the other person and took his order while I waited, and when she walked back to the counter I greeted her a second time and she ignored me again— stone cold, like I was a ghost. I followed her a few feet and inquired about my order as she left the room, door swinging behind her. She came out a second time and made a loop around the room; I tried to speak to her again and was again ignored. At this point I just walked behind the counter and inspected the single pick up order ticket and saw it was mine. I held the bag up above my head and announced to the room (single man at table and woman-who-couldn’t-see me) “This is mine, I’m taking it!” There was no response from anyone, so I took my food and left. I never did see any other employees at pickup, including the friendly person I placed the initial order with. I’m genuinely sad because this has been my go-to Chinese place for so many years and it was so uncomfortable, I don’t want to have to deal with that woman again. Embarrassing, uncomfortable,...
Read more1 star only because I cannot give 0. I placed an order for pick up via the website. When I got there, the manager was checking someone’s order to make sure it was complete. When I got home, 3 entrees were correct. The fourth was supposed to be chicken with cashews. When I opened the container, it was garlic shrimp in white sauce with cashews thrown on top. I called Awok to ask if cashew shrimp should be in white or brown sauce. I was told brown. I told the girl that I would be back to get what I ordered. She tried to tell me that they did not guarantee online orders and that the manager would have to call me back. I went back to the restaurant. The manager tried to tell me that they only had white sauce. After arguing with me, she changed it to brown sauce. However, when I got home the second time and opened the container, it was still the garlic shrimp entree with brown sauce thrown in. This isn’t the first time I’ve ordered one thing and gotten something different. It is the first time they have argued with me about making the order right (and it still wasn’t).
We will not be back.
I will recommend not going to Awok when...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. I used to love this place and I'm not sure what happened to them but I took my son for lunch on a Saturday at 1 pm, when we walked in I thought it was warm inside but it was also hot outside so wasn't sure. Well after sitting and ordering our food that was #1 so hot we couldn't touch it and #2 the chicken was dried out and hard as cardboard. I decided to get to go boxes to get the heck out of there because the thermostat behind the desk said 88. They never said a word when I told her it was way too hot to sit there and when I paid which was also shocking, she said there was no lunch price on Saturday which is a lie, it's on their menu. With that being said I paid 40 bucks for 2 orange chickens and 2 cans of coke( no cups or ice) and it was so gross I couldn't even eat it...
