Been wanting to try this place for sometime now, since I work nearby. I have to say I was not disappointed. I highly recommend the pepperoni roles! Are they the best ones I’ve ever tried, not sure actually, are they definitely worth a try, yes! Fyi they are sold every day.
I saw a review on here of someone who thought the pepperoni roles were really dry, and that the pepperoni was flavorless. I have to say I don’t know what this person was eating, because this is not what I had. The pepperoni roles are in a different shape than what I’m used to, rolled up like a cinnamon bun. The dry dough this guy was talking about I thought it was actually quite moist. Normally the dough is an OK thing for me with these type of things, but this dough is actually really good. Took me by surprise it was actually quite flavorful (well seasoned), without any pepperoni or cheese on it. I could literally just eat this dough. The pepperoni was not cheap pepperoni, it was really nice quality. Downsides to the pepperoni roles, I would personally like more cheese and pepperoni on them, but it’s a pretty decent level I guess. The plus side is there not greasy.
Onto the cookies, the cookies were pretty good. I had an M&M cookie, and normally their chocolate chip cookie-based, but this one was sugar cookie-based. Normally I’m not a fan of sugar cookies and I would still prefer it in like a chocolate chip cookie base, however if any sugar cookies gonna convince me to eat them it’s this one. If you love sugar cookies or even an OK fan of them, you will probably find this good. Not too overly sweet like that guy commented.
One final comment, the owner of this place is amazing. I didn’t really get the chance to talk with them, but they’re very attentive to comments people post on Google. That guy who posted that really bad review, they straight up offered him a full refund. That shows an owner who really cares, even though that guy...
Read moreSweet mama's is a nice local bakery in Hurricane, WV. While in the area around mid-March, we saw the bakery's sign out front for pepperoni rolls & knew we had to check it out. Just an FYI - there's plenty of parking available (the bakery sits in a shopping strip with other businesses).
Inside were at least two big display cases of goods (I only managed to snap a picture of one) plus a refrigerated case against the wall. Everything looked and smelled delicious. We bought some pepperoni rolls, a lemon cream tart, and a pecan bourbon tart.
-The pepperoni rolls were a good size, plump, and the dough was nice. Would definitely get these again! -The lemon cream tart had an awesome flavor; loved it. The filling paired well with the taste and texture of the crust. As someone who loves lemon desserts, it's a 10/10 for me. -The pecan bourbon tart was really nice. Not too rich but still had a delicious flavor. I'm usually not a pecan pie-type person, but I'd absolutely eat this again.
I would definitely recommend Sweet mama's bakery to anyone! It's worth stopping by to meet the friendly staff and try their incredible...
Read moreI ordered a dozen cupcakes, a few caramel apple, pumpkin and carrot. The filling was so bland and dry I couldn't tell exactly what it was. The frosting was ok, but the cake was so super sweet I couldn't pick out any flavor except sugar. With the flavor cupcakes I got, there was no detection of pumpkin or caramel, no cinnamon or nutmeg. Just super rich sugar. I also bought 2 lemon bomb cakes. The mousse was super dry and I like my lemon cakes to have a touch of tartness to it. But oh my God the sugar! It was a horribly fake lemon taste compounded by way too much sugar. Long story short, my husband and I shared 1 of each listed and the rest went to waste. The worst part? 2 lemon bombs and 12 cupcakes came to $45. If she'd cut back on the sugar she'd be able to...
