I live nearby and have seen them renovate the property and have been wanting to try them for sometime now. They opened just today as of writing this and I went in to give it a try and experience what it has to offer. I met the owner, all the staff and got a look behind the philosophy behind this newly owned restaurant, and it's safe to say this place is definitely for the people. They have a front lounge area with nice comfy chairs, a dining area, a dining bar and a outside seating area behind the building.
The atmosphere is genuinely nice and calming. Monochrome colors make it very soothing to walk in and feel at ease. The walls are decorated with local rhode island art which is actually for sale as well. So it's sufficed to say the atmosphere is unique, inviting and very pleasing.
As for the menu, there's something there for just about anyone. My only gripe for the entire experience was the pricing on the entrees. The average price for a meal is about 12-20$ and it definately threw me off at first. But after seeing the food firsthand, and trying a few items, it's definately bang for your buck. The food is genuinely expertly crafted by the owner himself and items are normally packed with stuff, so the volume and sheer love makes up for the above average entree pricing. At the same time, they have stuff to grab which is quick and easy for anyone looking for a nice quick pop-in before work or school. And these items are pretty cheap. $4 32 oz. Nachos and their soda or juice is priced for $2-3 and I can't even get a soda for $2 out of a vending machine.
The customer service is very personable, accepting and inviting. They are all really sweet, genuine, loving people. Especially the owner. I can tell he loves what he does and really wants to just bring together a community and serve them nice food.
This place is genuinely really nice. I recommend for anyone really, seeing as they have so many options. From getting a quick grab to a family oriented sit down and eat. This place is a good way to start your morning, I highly recommend...
Read moreInteresting, unusual place that just opened. Small but well arranged; 10 tables plus bar seating. Only open until noon. Serves breakfast and a light lunch call brunch. Friendly attentive staff but slow service. Not bad but not a place for a quick byte. Could improve with time. Good prices!
Small menu for both breakfast and lunch. No pancakes, no waffles, no Benedicts, only one omlet...about 5 egg dishes. But the dishes are interesting. They included a traditional American breakfast, eggs, meat, potatoes and toast, and a Spanish breakfast and Portuguese breakfast. The one omlet is a huge with 4 egg with 4 types of cheese!
Food was quite good... good quality and well prepared. But there were some errors .. I ordered eggs over easy and was served scrambled and I ordered crisp bacon but was served under cooked ( my opinion!) bacon. And the bread was not buttered.
Overall, a good meal at a really good price! And I expect the service problems will be corrected overtime.
I will be back...
Read moreThis place is a GEM! I honestly can’t even think of a single con. The whole experience was amazing — from the big smile I was greeted with at the door by the owner, to the top-secret tres leches dessert topped with homemade tres leches whipped cream. Absolutely exquisite, I tell ya!
I had the breakfast sandwich, and it was without a doubt the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had in Rhode Island. This place just opened, so give it a shot. I can easily see Café Luka becoming a staple in the RI community for...
