Very disappointed in my trip there today. Usually very pleasant and great donuts. Not so much today. I went in to get a dozen donuts and it came to $20.42 which seems excessive given prior visits. I always would bring 20 dollars cash and leave the rest for a tip. It has been a few months maybe 6 since I had been here last and perhaps the pricing has changed. Now I did not have enough to cover the .42 cents and she stated it was fine but honestly not sure why I was charged for each individual donut. Not sure when this changed. It was always around 16 dollars with the tax. I understand the need to charge more as the cost of goods has increased. Rule thumb is you usually give a discount when people order more of your product. That is how every other place does it. Maybe she was new but the other kid there did not correct her when I questioned the amount.
She also questioned the kid about the boston creme donuts being filled, which he said they were. Guess what, 2 of the 4 I got did not have filling. Not sure how the process works but one would think there is a better way to ensure each donut is filled???
Hoping management sees this and can make the necessary changes and bring it back to the way...
Read moreOk, first off, my credit card statement says the name is Fresh Homemade Donuts. NOT Master Donuts. I only see Master Donuts on the google maps. But the sign on the building says only “DONUTS”. So call it whatever you like apparently. Just go there!! I’ve been there a few times now, and I just love all their breakfast sandwiches. Bacon, egg and cheese. Ham, egg and cheese. And sausage, egg and cheese. And each one on bagels and croissants. (not all at once, of course) I am certain that the donuts are just as delicious, but I avoid sweets at all costs. (Too addictive! Like a drug!!) So I have eaten in the little restaurant, and it is very quiet and peaceful; however it is also usually fairly empty. Apparently most folks take their orders out. If you decide to eat in the restaurant, there are about 4 or maybe 5 tables. Each is sized for about 4 people comfortably. A small bathroom toward the back, for convenience. This is a quiet, clean restaurant where you can sit in peace, maybe catch up on some reading, or bring your laptop for some finishing touches on your autobiography. I think you get the idea. Stop in, get a drink and a donut. Or try the breakfast sandwich… you will...
Read moreThis place just opened up here in RI this past weekend, and they hopefully are going to make an impact on the quality of donuts we have in the area.
Now don’t get me wrong, they aren’t Allie’s, but they are something a bit different. At least to me, the donuts seemed less sweet, but just as good. I had a Boston Creme and a jelly, and I got my wife a strawberry frosted with sprinkles. All of which were very good, and tasty.
Not to mention fresh. All of the donuts I had were still warm when they were put into the bag. It seems they do small batches, so they can keep them fresh all of the day, which is an amazing thing. Fresh donuts are so much better.
It’s a little out of the way, if you aren’t from west Warwick, but it’s definitely worth the trip. I mean, if you’re someone who loves your donuts, you are probably driving to Allie’s, so this may be a bit closer. So perhaps, it will make you eat donuts more often.
So maybe that’s a bad thing? No, it can’t be. Donuts are never a bad thing. But just don’t overdo it, so you can enjoy...
