We usually visit Fresco of Smithfield and enjoyed our one experience at the East Greenwich location around 2015. This location was shockingly bad for a Fresco and general 3-star+ restaurant experience.
-- The tables were inexcusably sticky from a cheap laquer being rejuvenated from their chosen cleaning solution. Never experienced tables my arms stuck to like that.
--my first side salad was rife with rotten spring mix. That was exchanged for a replacement that I pulled 8-12 rotten pieces from. I then switched to a caesar salad which was pitiful and had watered down dressing.
--my Bolognese and ricotta rigatoni clearly contained mostly jarred sauce and was overly salty. It was primarily cheap ground beef and no pork or veal--that I could detect. It's insulting to serve jarred sauce at a restaurant like Fresco, as it's something a cheap pizza parlor would do. --the bread was mostly overbaked and ripped my gums. The bread at the other locations is usually great.
--the floors were extremely tacky from a cheap wax or improper mopping. Everyone's shoes were making a loud noise while walking.
--no lighting, bad layout and really too small for a Fresco. Odd they chose that building as it was better suited for another pizza place...
Read moreWe went here on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet for dinner. They have a nice outdoor area with heat lamps and umbrellas. We sat inside at the booth. Staff was very friendly. We received very warm bread that was perfectly fluffy and with a nice crust. The dipping oil was great too with a little kick. We got the caprese as an appetizer and that was good too! They had a nice kids menu with a lot of variety and we ended up asking for pasta with Alfredo sauce that they were able to make for the kids. I had the 12 oz NY strip special which was good. The mashed potatoes were very tasty and the green beans were nice and soft. My husband had the oven roasted pork tenderloin special with prosciutto blended mozzarella, spinach and topped with a shallot cream sauce. He really enjoyed his dish but felt the entree was a little small. My father in law got the baked scrod with pico de gallo and tarragon aioli special and he enjoyed that too! We ended our night with dessert having gelato but it sort of seemed more like ice cream but it was good! This restaurant is a nice edition to West Warwick and less...
Read moreFresco's: where the food is memorable, but the tables are unforgettable—literally.
We decided to dine at Fresco's last weekend, lured by promises of delightful cuisine. However, our experience was overshadowed by a peculiar and sticky predicament. The food was indeed delicious, and the ambiance pleasant, but the tables... oh, the tables.
Upon seating, we immediately noticed an unusual tackiness. My wife, unwittingly placed her napkin on the table, and to our astonishment, it adhered instantly. Attempts to reclaim it were in vain; it had become one with the table, forever a part of Fresco's decor. We couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all, though the sticky situation was far from ideal.
While the food and service at Fresco's are commendable, I highly recommend they address the sticky table situation. Dining shouldn't come with the risk of leaving your belongings behind, permanently affixed to the furniture. Until then, perhaps bring your...
