Parking. There really isn't any. But it's location in old downtown Westfield should automatically tell you that parking will be an issue. This fact didn't really effect this review. But here are the things that did...When we walked in we weren't greeted with a hello, or welcome to Fields Brewing. We were asked if we had masks. Which we clearly did. I can understand this question in our current times. But I don't appreciate the condescending and judgmental tone from someone that barely has his own mask on, and can barely walk because his pants are falling down. This person walked away from us towards the host stand(we came in the doors closest to SR32) and proceeded to ignore us. The only reason we knew we needed to go to the host stand was because of the numerous floor signs instructing us to do so. Once we arrived at the host stand this person didn't ask us how many in our party, inside or outside seating preferences, absolutely nothing. Just walked away to clean a table outside and left us standing there confused. Thankfully a young woman came up and asked if we needed help and how many were in our party. I would assume that was due to the way our faces looked from across the room. A few moments later the gentleman that left us returned and told her to seat us outside at the table he had just cleaned in a very condescending tone. But thankfully we had already told her that we would like to sit inside. Once he was informed of this he scoffed, rolled his eyes, and walked away. The young woman sat us and provided us with water while we waited and was very pleasant. Sadly this was the last we saw of her. So we sat. And sat. And sat some more until we were finally greeted by the server/bartender we were assigned. As a side note the entire inside dining room was empty except for 2 tables on the other side of the room, and a group of gentleman drinking close to the bar. So at this point we were concerned with how long this process of a late lunch would take. Our server took our drink orders and our food orders. I ordered the chicken ruben. My wife the street tacos. And my mother a salad. During the ordering process I was notified that the rye bread wasn't available for my sandwich. Not a big deal. We were also told that certain salads weren't available that my mother ordered so she had to compromise on a different one. Also, not a big deal. She did however order it without any onions. Which was a big deal. At this time we thought we were all set. I was wrong. We continued to wait for another 20 minutes for our 3 drinks we ordered. Thankfully they were heavy pours. They weren't worth the wait, but the heavy pour made the $10+ price tag per drink a little more bearable. We then waited another 20+ minutes for our food to arrive. But during this time we wanted to order more drinks, and taste some of the beers to see if we would like to order any. Our server was too concerned with hanging out with the group of gentleman seated close to the bar area, talking with other staff members, and generally just walking around the restaurant. We finally received our food. But not from our server. There was another young woman who was very pleasant that brought our food to us. And even got us a refill on our waters since we had been without any drinks for some time. We opted not to order anymore cocktails after waiting that long. The food looked extremely good. But that's where the positives ended. I would write more but I had to re-write this review since I exceeded the character limit. Service: Horrible. Food: A Small Step Above. Experience: Appalling. Read moreWhere to begin. I carefully read several reviews of Field before going there. 3+ star average. Could be better but people can be ugly. So I headed over. Very nice curb appeal to this place. Not a ton of parking, MAYBE 10 spots in the lot, but I got lucky. Nice atmosphere inside but was surprised by the lack of a crowd. Granted it was a Tuesday and raining, but most local breweries are packed every night they're open. Sat down at the (empty) bar and within a couple minutes young lady was there to take my order. Very nice bar staff. Not super beer educated but that's not HER fault. She was very nice and attentive. Browsed the beer menu and decided on a "pint" of the Crankshaft...got it and I was surprised to see appx 1.5" head on the East Coast IPA served in a typical 15 oz Willi Becher glass. So now this "pint", which is still 16 oz. last I checked, is being served in a 15 oz glass with a huge 1 1/2" head?!?! Just by my rough calculation, I'm getting appx 11 1/2 oz of beer for the "pint" price. So, if I'm the owner, this gives me appx 1 full beer of profit for every 3.5 beers I pour. Not bad! Someone has done their math. With that said however, the beer was very good. All that I expect from a New England style beer. Next, I ordered some food (pulled chicken sandwich) and it came out prompt and was also really good. Side salad was fresh and crisp. Very good as well. Well done on the food and the service. I grabbed another beer, this time the Shift Change IPA. Nice little beer but I do believe there were additional residual sugars in this beer that just didn't quite get fermented out. I like that personally but some may not. I'd have to say that the Shift Change was good but I still preferred the Crankshaft. So I cashed out on the meal and first beer by credit card but paid cash for my 2nd beer but to my surprise the "$5 shift change" ended up costing me $7 and after the tip to my awesome server, cost me $10. Turns out the menu was the wrong price of $5, it's now $6. Go figger. AND, the change I thought I was getting back from a now $6.54 beer was "rounded up" so no coin change back either. A $5 beer cost me $10. No way!!! All in all good food, good beer, nice servers and a pleasant little place with a few little ethical management/ownership issues. Know all of this going in and you won't leave mad. As for me, I won't return...like lots of other folks in Westfield it seems. A shame. Could be a...
Read moreThis new restaurant/brewery located in the heart of Westfield was beautiful, trendy and had some fun amenities in their game area. I've really been curious to visit here. I'm not a beer drinker so I didn't try the brews. Starting out we had to park a block away in a gravel lot because there was so little parking available near the restaurant it was a chilly hike over in a dark alley. Everything was a la carte which is my least favorite way to dine. The BlackBerry mint tea was wonderful! The glassware was short and the ice melted quickly and had to be replenished and the large pitcher to refill with was awkward and hard to pour from. It was very crowded so it was loud (echowy) and hard to hear others at our table. They set us at a small table right next to an outside door that opens to the outside so it was VERY chilly, so much so we tried to scoot our table and chairs in a bit and moved our daughter to the other side of the table and put a coat on her. I didn't like having a dish rag for a napkin (not classy enough for the price we paid to dine). It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive even at 9 PM. My daughter and I ordered the rigatoni which was plentiful but super salty (too much so) for $12 no value here. We also ordered the fingerling potatoes. These are a novel idea. The sauce and toppings were delicious but the dish was so small (only 9 tiny pieces on the plate) for $5 again, no value here. My husband ordered the house burger that was delicious and cooked to order. We passed on the tiny dessert menu. Overall, we probably won't be back anytime soon. We heard many dishes drop and break on the floor which will probably be expensive in the long run. Also, was overcharged on the bill which had to be corrected. Two adults (no alcohol) and one child $70 tab. You can tell by the pricing they need to pay for the new build but they should really work on the menu and the quality that comes out of the kitchen. I'm Sorry to say, no...
