To say my husband and I love this place is only scratching the surface! I have so many wonderful things to say, and the first is go there yourself and experience it!
Andy and his staff are welcoming and educated. I have learned more about wine in the last 3 years going here, than I have in all my previous years combined. I love that now that when I go to a restaurant, I recognize different wines, and am more educated on what to choose with my meal.
I love that we can try wines and grape varietals that I have never had before. Before coming to the Westfield Wine Vault, my go to wine was a Cabernet Sauvignon. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I have had a Cab Sav at the Wine Vault, because there are so many other great options!
I feel confident spending a little more money on a bottle of wine, that I know is going to be great, vs taking a chance on spending money on a bottle I know nothing about at a big box store. I also have spent LESS money on a bottle at the Westfield Wine Vault that I did at a high end restaurant!
I can also say, the more you go, the better your experience. As Andy and his staff learn what you like, they are able to recommend different wines that will suite your taste. Every time we go in, he has something new for my husband and I to try and is spot on!
There is no where else in Hamilton County where you are going to get an experience like you do at the Westfield Wine Vault.
I would also highly recommend doing some of the wine education classes or tastings with Andy. Always so much fun and very...
Read moreI will preface this by saying that I went with three other people, and all three of them would rate this place five stars. I haven't done this before, but I feel like I need to break the rating into categories.
Food - 3 stars - Our group ordered a charcuterie board, a grilled cheese sandwich, mac & cheese, and a dish that was a bowl of tomato sauce with goat cheese served with toast pieces. The charcuterie board had pepperoni and salami slices on it that tasted like they could have come from one of those Hormel party packs someone might bring over to watch a football game. Nothing on the board seemed like it was something you couldn't get at a mass market grocery store. And that's normally fine, but not for what it cost. The grilled cheese was bland. The tomato sauce tasted like jarred spaghetti sauce.
Service - 4 stars - Our server and the owner were very enthusiastic about wine and their restaurant, which was nice to see. I'm dinging them because there was a period when we went a very long time without being checked on.
Experience - 4.5 stars - It was a fun outing and a great way to go and try a bunch of wines. We got a couple different wine flights and it was nice to share and compare them.
As noted, the people I went with loved everything about this place and would enthusiastically recommend it. I was much less impressed, almost entirely because of the food. Ultimately, I would recommend going here for a fun and different experience to try wine. I would definitely not recommend it if you're looking for a meal that's better...
Read moreThis is a double review of going to the Wine Vault's anniversary in December 2022 and a wine 🍷 tasting today.
The Wine Vault is located in a great old building in downtown Westfield, IN with a wine bar on the first floor and a bigger section on the second floor. At the back of the second floor is a great little secluded room you can sit privately with a small group of friends or one on one for a romantic 🥰 little time with someone special. Like I spent with my wife. There are affordable snacks and one piece of advice: Get a flatbread pizza.
If you're not sure what to get, check out a flight of wine. You'll get five glasses of wine to share, and if it's you and someone else, it's plenty.
Today we did a personal wine tasting. Andy was our host and guide and he did a great job teaching us what to look for in smelling, viewing, tasting, and evaluating wine. Technically you'll taste 3-4 wines. In reality Andy will let you taste 6-8 wines when he says "OK you've tasted this, now I am pouring that and take a taste. Compare it to what you've tasted before."
Sundays are "special event" days. Check the website for a schedule and book a tasting for two or more.
Oh, you'll probably be walking out after buying a bottle of wine or two. Budget appropriately.
Only down side: finding parking on Union Street. Call, text, or email the Mayor of Westfield, IN and ask for...
