On 12/4 between 3:00pm and 4:00pm I went in for a late lunch. I haven't been inside a Carl's Jr in 2 years. I remember Carl's being ok with food quality. So when I went in I was not expecting much. I was hungry. And just wanted okay fast food.
I ordered the Big Carl with medium fries and a medium drink.
Now that was a good freaking burger. I was surprised.
In-N-Out has good burgers too, let me tell you. This burger from Carl's was just a step above. Pretty damn good with good meat and great buns. Tasty sauce, with good texture lettuce.
And I can say with confidence that Carl's fries are much better than In-N-Out fries. These fries had much better texture, taste, and my favorite, they did not get cold as fast as In-N-Out fries.
That was a good lunch. I don't know if all Carl's are like that now, or if this location brought their 'A' game on when I went in.
All I know is I was expecting a burger and fries with a six quality. That bumped up to nine or ten.
Whoever was cooking the food on December 4th between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m, know that was a great burger and fries you made for me.
My one downside. Carl's has gone so much expensive. $12.88 for a Big Carl combo, it's a bit much. The food quality was almost worth it but still a bit much. So unfortunately I can only afford that price as an occasional treat rather than my go-to.
The place was clean. I noticed. Clean tables. Clean floors. Cozy atmosphere. Decorated for the holidays. Service was fast and simple; as it should be.
That was a great burger and fries that day. Thank you Carl's staff. Stay on your toes though. In-N-Out burgers are good too. But that Big Carl I had from this location was DAMN good. Only a single step up compared to In-N-Out burgers (seriously, they have good burgers too), but a noticeable step...
Read moreCarl's Juniors is usually pretty consistient. This one is as good as the next. The biggest drawback is that the Walmart across the parking lot is the waystop for most every transient that makes O.C. their home. It may seem a little dicey after dark but if you carry yourself well and can command your own respect and show some dignity towards the wayward masses that seem to congregate , you have no worries. You don't have to touch every panhandler but do acknowledge that they are there and politely let them know you gave at the office but you understand and are hopeful that they will do good. Cue your car up into the drivethru line and if you are further accosted by panhandlers, be kind but exertive in commanding some space and respect while pointing out how rude it is to beg to a person in line for food. Etittiquite should know no social boundaries! Duly report them when you get up to the drive thru window too. I know I have made this all sounds like tip toeing thru a minefield but it really isn't as bad as I make it all seem. Homelessness , transients and misfortunate people are everywhere and I hope to illustrate that they are people too and everyone has problems it's just relative to each owns perspective. Carl's Juniors is the same as Mc Donalds or Jack n the Box down the street. How the hell do ya honestly rate franchised fast food chain food???? It's consistiently...
Read moreI regularly come to this Carl's to eat lunch and read whichever book I'm reading at the time. Most recently it was "Ready Player One". (The movie is really really good, but the book is even better.)
Sometimes I am served a good burger, fries and drink. Other time I am served beef-flavored buns, fries and drink.
When the California Classic burger came out the meat was a good burger-sized size. After a while the patty got much smaller, until now - there is barely any patty at all.
Then they came out with this $5 menu. The meat on the burger was big. After a while it got small. I ordered one and found that now - there is barely any meat at all.
Why do this, Carl's? I feel ripped off every time I get one of the mini-patty burgers. That's no way to treat a loyal customer, is it? I mean, I'm always cool with you - I bus my tray, dump my trash, wipe off my table and push in my chair. Why can't you be cool with me? Stop switching-up on the meat patties after a couple of months.
Yes,...
