Rive Bistro — Restaurant in Westport

I attended an event Dec. 30th,2023. Atomosphere pleasant, appetizers appetizers good. I & a woman seated at my table ordered Gnocchi w/ mushrooms. We both found the dishes inedible as food was so salty. I explained this to the gray haired waitress who asked what did I want. As there were 3 choices, I asked for the chicken. The waitress said a flat out “no.” So I asked for salmon & she said she would see but never returned. Right before they served the cake I saw the waitress & asked what happened to dinner. She said it was one plate per guest & they didn’t make extra as they couldn’t afford to waste food,besides chicken takes 30 minutes to cook. Then a 2nd worker approached & was insisted that they only serve 1st quality food & chef taste each dish before it is served. Said I should have ordered a salad. I explained I was not given an option. This woman stated they have never received complaints about the food. I responded that now she had received 2 complaints. This woman, who was previously working the drinks area ended by saying that the cake was going to be served. Bottom line 2 guests did not have dinner, issues were left unattended & disputed with guests, staff acted in a pretentious and condescending manner. To end this review we attempted to get a Coke or Pepsi and staff advised us that they had run out but...

I visited this establishment today with a large party, including my two young children, and had the worst experience at a restaurant ever. The hostess, a woman with a French accent, was openly disrespectful, providing curt replies and speaking in a dismissive tone when I inquired about our reservation and the availability of high chairs. This behavior occurred in front of my children, which made the encounter both unsettling and unnecessary.

I have visited this restaurant on several previous occasions and I truly question the decision to appoint this individual to this front-facing role. Given the reputation she has created for herself and the simultaneous decline in food quality, the situation is concerning. All that can reasonably be hoped is that ownership eventually transitions to someone with greater expertise in the hospitality industry, as the riverside location is the establishment’s only remaining asset.

I do not recommend Rive Bistro. Don’t waste your time and money on this establishment that fails to provide basic courtesy, clear communication, and professionalism standards that are particularly critical in environments where children...

Attended an absolutely beautiful and elegant event on Dec 30th and was absolutely blown away by the quality of both the food and staff. Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by incredibly friendly and attentive staff and were offered drinks. Prior to the event start, a waitress came around to refill our glasses and made sure we were set so as not to leave during the event. For dinner, I ordered the chicken and my husband ordered the gnocchi, both of which were absolutely delicious, and even my husband who is not a huge mushroom fan devoured the gnocchi. Additionally I want to add that the staff was incredibly competent with food allergies and restrictions. I have celiac and the waitress was very on top of making sure I knew my options and was able to safely enjoy the food. When the dessert trays came out, she came right up to me and showed me exactly which desserts I was able to enjoy. I truly have no complaints about any part of the wonderful night.
