Yeah. Not the biggest fan of this place. Won't be using them again.
It's competent, red-sauce Italian. Good sticks-to-your-ribs food if the whole order manages to go off without a hitch.
But that hasn't happened recently.
Last Thursday, my wife and I ordered 2 sandwiches (plus some fried ravioli). The order was placed online at 5:40 PM. Now, keeping in mind that this restaurant is walking distance from my house... I think it's a little shocking the sandwiches didn't show up until 9:15 PM. What's worse, it was all cold.
Late food. Cold "hot" subs. Cold, soggy, fried ravioli.
The screenshot I've attached to this review is from right before I called them. When I gave them a ring I said, "Hey... I'm checking in on order #218?"
The response I got back was, "Are you sure you don't mean order #281?"
So I think it's safe to say they just lost track of my order. Not long after being told they were just waiting on a driver to get back, I got a text from grub hub saying that my food should arrive at 7:05 PM (it was half past 8 by then). Later on, I received another message saying a different driver was bringing my food.
Then my wife and I got our cold sandwiches. The guy who delivered them just said, "Sorry about that" before turning around and getting back in his car. I suppose he didn't really have a reason to care, since I already paid the tip ahead of time.
I like supporting my local pizza joints. But this place...
Read moreJust walked out of Comella’s in Westwood today after being ignored by the two girls from behind the counter. For the record, I am a regular take out customer there and the food is always good. However, this afternoon (07/07/24) I arrived with my wife and stepson and we decided to eat in. The restaurant was not busy, i.e., no one at the takeout counter and no one was seated at the tables. I asked if table service was available or should we place an order at the counter. The girl replied, no, you can sit wherever you’d like and someone will be over to take your order. Several minutes passed so my wife asked this time if table server was available . Once again the girl behind the counter said someone would be along. Several more minutes passed and the second counter server just stared down ignoring us completely. So, we stood up and left. I would have voiced my displeasure to the pair behind the counter but why bother? I mean if they were happy to ignore us why then would they care if we left? However, I’ll bet the owner of Comella’s cares. Just check the security cameras and see for yourself how useless your counter...
Read moreMy daughter planned a wedding shower at s friend's home, but her friends' children became ill two days before the shower. The friend recommended Comella's as an alternate site. I called and spoke with the manager and she was most accommodating. One of the restaurants has a private room that was exactly the right size for our party. We had women coming from NY, CT and MA, so it was crucial that we had a central location. The staff at Comella's was fabulous! They made sure we had enough food, supplies and chairs and checked on us throughout the afternoon. We had a wonderful time, and thank the Comella staff for ensuring that the shower took place and that we were treated like...
