This place has a great concept and the Home Alone theme is fun! A couple of issues we had during our very first visit had to do with service. Let me begin with the food. We ordered 1 appetizer, 4 burgers and some drinks for a family of 4 our bill was not bad. The appetizer dish Buffalo shrimp were good. We all ordered the Mac n Cheese burger which was filling but it wasn't Amazing! It was just ok and reasonably priced. Now onto the issues we encountered. When we were seated we were placed way upstairs in a corner area with 2 unstable high top tables pushed together. We passed 2 or 3 open tables on the first floor that could seat 4 people when I asked the hostess about those she said”Those are reserved.” I replied with I thought reservations weren’t available for parties less than 8 ppl. She said not true, which I find hard to believe since we called twice to verify during the week and were told no reservations could be made for less than 8 ppl. Next after we were seated the hostess came right back up and made it a point to inform us “Seating is limited to only 90 minutes.” Which I find odd to point out since I didn't notice it on the menu or website. Secondly there were 2 other tables that were seated by us and they didn’t get the same warning Hmmmmm strange. We didn’t make a big deal but did take note. Next since this is a Home Alone theme there was only 1 TV out maybe 15 tvs playing the Home Alone movie on the first floor. We asked if we could have 1 of the 4 TVs upstairs to play Home Alone as well since we could not see the movie from our corner seat and we told “No sorry can’t do that” Hmmmmm strange. Lastly we had an issue with the bill we were charged something I asked for but wasn’t delivered to my table. I pointed it out to the server at which point she stated “No it was brought upstairs.” I told her that it wasn’t brought to my table, she eventually took it off the bill, I normally wouldn’t have even mentioned something so small but at this point we my table and family seemed to have different treatment than other tables and I was fed up. We paid our bill and did tip regardless. Overall this place has the right idea for the theme but needs to work on customer service and equal treatment for all. Have signs posted about reservations and time limits. Also if its a Home Alone theme than show the movie on more than 1 tv regardless of college football. Perhaps other customers will have a better experience than what we did, will not...
Read moreWent to Corland's Garage earlier this week and had a very uncomfortable experience. Waited a few days to see if I could shake it off but have not been able to.
Walking up the outdoor hostess was sitting on a stool reading a book under an umbrella. She seated us....all the way in the back, around the corner in an out of sight out of mind area. We didn't understand why we were seated so far away when there were only 4 tables occupied at the time.
She did see that we moved and we were given a passive aggressive reason for why she did not seat us there initially. When the server arrived and took our order you would have thought she had 6 Red Bulls she was talking so fast and her body language was giving off a very anxious vibe. Ordered a beer and she carded me. I smiled and was chuckling to myself as I had not been carded in some time. As I was doing so she proceeded to give me the reason as to why she needed to card me, explaining she was a manager and there were sting operations and she was not taking any risks.
I had zero issue presenting my ID, I was enjoying that I was being carded and her response set the tone for the whole time we were there. After this encounter we were ready to leave but gave Cortland's a chance.
When she came back with our drinks Mom had an iced tea and it was in a small plastic solo cup. Not once was she asked if she'd like a refill.
We both got burgers and were very disappointed, especially since the menu raves about their "Best Burger in Chicago". Extremely baffled by this one as I ordered my burger Medium and when it arrived it was GREY!!! Not brown, not pink GREY!! Like a frozen patty that had been slapped on the flat top. There were so many toppings you couldn't even taste the meat and that is probably a good thing. I was only able to stomach half and took the rest home and threw it away. Had a few of the tater tots that were mediocre.
If a representative from Cortland's reads this and asks "Why didn't you say something when you were there"? Our server stated she was a Manager and it didn't seem like the time to address it as she was not in a place to hear feedback. We will take accountability for changing tables to be more comfortable and closer to the sunshine, but saying something would not have gotten anyone anywhere.
If you have ever missed going to Ed DeBevic's and having servers and staff treat you poorly, then go to Cortland's for some...
Read moreSo disappointed We made reservations for 715 a group of 8. Part of our party got their early the other part 720 and 745. Mind you we were the only ones in the restaurant anywhere besides 2 ppl at the bar.The waitress was rude, rushed us and was insulting in her actions. Almost felt like she was nonstop asking/harassing us to place our orders and seemed annoyed when we said can you give us a moment or we are waiting for the rest of our partyy. Drinks that were asked for took forever(while the bar tender was on his phone) but she also made sure to come by every 5min to ask for another drink. At 750 she told us the kitchen closes at 9. Ok. It's only 750. We placed our order they start cleaning our plates as soon as we finished eating, no asking us if we everything was ok. It's 820 at this time and she says do you want anything else to drink we said we just finished we are going to hang around a bit, she brings the check then hovers over us and repeatedly walks back and forth and says let me know when you're done with your check it's 845. And they are putting up bar stools around us. At 850 they try putting the chairs on our table and we said can we have 10min of privacy to talk , which was not given. 9pm on the dot we walk out the door to not only be followed by the waitress who was ours.
Not a thank you , not a happy fathers day not any type of costumer service that would ever make me want to come back, I'm thoroughly embarrassed we took our family there for a nice Father's day dinner, to celebrate the 2 fathers that joined us, instead i had to apologize for the lack of respect that was shown. .
For a $270.00 check I would much rather take my money anywhere else in Arlington Heifhts, than this place again.
You really need to talk to your waitress who took care of the only table of paid customers on June 16th at 730. I work in the customer service/ food industry I would not want that to be a representation of how I run...
