Monse's Bakery — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

Stopped by after years of not coming here because I moved far away and I was very disappointed in the quality of the food and baked goods. The tacos de canasta were bland, soggy, and nothing to talk about. I didn’t care for these because they were clearly microwaved. The chocoflan was terrible. The chocolate cake part was dry and dense. The flan was thick, dense, and overcooked because it doesn’t melt in your mouth like flan should. If your flan feels rubbery, it’s overcooked. The slice of chocolate cake was so dry! You can tell it had been sitting there for a while. When this place first opened, it had a lot of potential. They were a full bakery, now it’s a taco place and drink shop. There was barely any bread out. In my opinion, this is not the place to go for Mexican bread or baked goods. It was extremely expensive for the quality of the food. It is the best Mexican bread in the area! From the moment you walk in your senses awaken. the smell of fresh bread is just so amazing. Bread is always on point. Every time I visit, they always have freshly baked bread. The staff is so friendly and nice to talk to. They also have a variety of ice cream to choose from on other things to choose from. Wish I could have discover this place earlier. The "esquite" which is corn in a cup with freshly squeeze lemon and chili powder is just so delicious. Their cakes are very good too.
