Ha Long Bay Restaurant — Restaurant in White Bear Lake

We were there in Dec 2019. We will never forget. Horrible food and service. I should have written this years ago.

Without exaggeration, it was the worst food I’ve ever been served. The only word I can use to describe it is disgusting. I usually do not complain or send food back but it was so bad I just couldn’t believe they would charge money for it. Food was tasteless and the quality was very poor. It was as if they had used bits of left over meat and threw it together in a sir fry. When I asked for the waiter/owner to try it he was defensive and aggressive. He scolded me for describing it as disgusting. I am not one to sugarcoat things nor do I feel I should need to Tip-toe around your fragile feelings especially after you’ve put food like this in front of me to eat. It’s demeaning. His parents/ older family members who were eating in the dinning room at that time were glaring at me in anger. The younger male told me that it tasted the way it should and nothing was wrong with it. Both of us felt incredible uncomfortable. I just could not eat the food. He did offer to replace it with something else and although it was a little better, it was still very poor. Needless to say we will never be back. It was a horrible experience all around.

so poor service! As soon as i walked into the restaurant i saw the owner who is the old waitress playing with her phone behind the counter. She acted like she was so important...reallly?....was she that important ? well in some ways the owner greets with more respect and more welcome than anyone else. Anyways there was hair in my pho and the way she treated me was like me bothering her with her phone exercise. Maybe i should have never paid her for trashing the fork, spoon , chopstick and soup spoon in front of me. Still i played mute to see how stupid she thought i was. I guess since i'm asian she probably thought that i was too stupid to make my own pho. Who ever goes there is only Caucasian (white) because you don't know how cheap her food is....for my own safety i would not go there any more because to start with i'm Asian and not stupid, and second because i hate rude service ...so if you are the owner of this restaurant and ever get to read this ....i'd like you to understand that being Asian and treating your own kind with disrespect was really foolish of you as a owner....if you were up in the asian community and selling your expired meat in pho and other foods (egg roll) and service you would def...

First time visit 4/28/23. The server (family member) was personable and attentive. Their entrees were generous portions and allowed customization of proteins into the dish. We ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Fried Vietnamese Pork Egg Rolls, Moo Shu Stir Fry (with pork), Pad Thai (with chicken) - spice level 7/10, and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Everything we ordered was seasoned well, flaverful but not overly salted. We thought the Chicken Pad Thai was one of the best we'd ever tasted. The shrimp in the Honey Walnut Shrimp had a crispy coating (not too heavy/dense/thick) and the sauce was rich and creamy. The Moo Shu Stir Fry vegetables were cooked to perfect texture (tender with some crunch left). The server said that spice level, salt level, sweetness of the iced coffee, batter thickness on the shrimp could all be customized to the customer's request. We will definitely be back to try other dishes at this family...
