Had a lovely time Monday evening meeting up with established and new friends at Tim's Tavern in the White Center area of Seattle.
Tim's Tavern is an amazing establishment that has a completely separate vegan menu and offers live music or some form of entertainment on most nights. If that's not temptation for you, every Monday they offer a 15% discount on all vegan items!!!
For Monday evening, we were treated to an eight round game of Trivia, with a very lively and energetic emcee, pitted against other tables/teams present at the restaurant. Did we win? Well, let me put it this way ... there were no losers as everyone walked away with a parting prize, I chose the Muppets "Animal" themed socks and my wife, "Corpse Bride".
Their vegan menu is top notch, there's enough variety and decadence to rival that of any vegan menu regardless of the type of establishment. Perusing through the menu you'll find appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs, tacos, salads, and sides. The food we tried was amazing. The Fried Cauliflower had a crispy exterior coating contrasted with a soft texture for the actual vegetable which combined, between the flavor and texture made for a delectable bite! The BBQ Pulled Shroom came with a refreshing side salad and the sandwich itself, between the tanginess of the sauce and pulled mushroom texture, truly astounding. I could go on and on but every dish we tried was equally as amazing in person as they are mouth watering and drool worthy in the pictures.
Thanks so much for letting me share with everyone and I hope you're all able to make it out...
Read moreCame here for the first time last week, and although the location and service were great, the food was a bit disappointing. First of all, the atmosphere was super chill and laid back which we love, and the staff were very attentive and nice! We ordered two entrees and the $12 fried pretzel. The pretzel was the biggest bummer on this visit. It was very pale, didn’t taste anything like a pretzel, and had no salt on it. It looked—and tasted—like boiled dough. The cheese sauce that was served with it was very gritty in texture also, which unfortunately made the pretzel worse. It was extremely disappointing and DRASTICALLY overpriced for what it is. $12? It may be locally sourced, but it isn’t worth it. I hate to say it, but it should be removed from the menu altogether. The fries were pretty good so fortunately I was able to share some of those with my date, but they weren’t very hot and they weren’t very crispy. They were fries though, so they’re generally fun to just go at. The pulled pork sandwich was really good. I loved the flavor and the sauce and the amount of meat and coleslaw was appropriate for the price. That was a highlight. Unfortunately the potato salad that I ordered with it was so finely cut that it almost ate more like a chunky, savory, briny yogurt and not a hearty chunky potato salad that I would expect from a tavern. It was more mayo-heavy than potato-heavy and I personally didn’t enjoy that ratio. Overall, it was disappointing, which was a real bummer since the service and atmosphere were...
Read moreMy issue wasn't really with the service. They seemed understaffed but that's not the bartender's fault. I felt a bit deceived by the drink prices. Their menu said happy hour wells were $5, which is admittedly low, but I asked for a whiskey ginger ale and the total price was $9 after a $4 mixer upcharge. My friend was charged $12 for a well vodka and ginger beer, which would have been fine if it was an actual Moscow Mule but the ginger beer was from a gun and the drink certainly wasn't giving anything beyond a well drink. For context, my 2 happy hour whiskey gingers and a flatbread came out to $36 before tipping. I'm fine with paying more, I just like transparency.
The weirdest part of the experience was the dog walking around the restaurant, often behind the bar and probably into the kitchen, who both begged for food at the table and barked for ~2 minutes as we were getting ready to leave. The place just felt like a bit of a mess, I felt bad for the employees.
I loved that they had a full vegan menu though! It's really extensive which is great for vegetarians and vegans in the area. I really didn't like the food off the main menu but it felt like...
