We were at China Garden on Wednesday July 31, 2024. We arrived around 6:00pm. When we open the door we saw a big sign saying prices were changed to $11.99 and that was okay because it was one of our favorite places to eat. When we got to the buffet table I was shocked to see how dirty it was with spilled food everywhere and the utensils were sticky and dirty. I couldn’t believe it. But what I really couldn’t believe were the 7 empty pans on the buffet. When we asked one of the waitresses if they were going to bring more food out she didn’t have a clue of what we were saying so I walked over to the buffet table and pointed out all the empty pans and she still didn’t know or was just playing dumb. Around 7:30 they brought out maybe 2 cups of rice and 6 chicken on a stick and that was it. Everything I liked on any given day they were out of. The only thing I had to eat was a spoonful of honey chicken and I mean a spoonful, that’s all there was. There was a table with another couple there when we got there but they got tired of waiting on food and left. It was around 8:00 when we left and they charged me a full buffet even though I only had a spoonful of honey chicken. They don’t close until 9:30, we got there at 6:00 they should’ve made more food. We sat there for 2 hours waiting on more food to be brought out. We didn’t recognize any of the workers. There were 2 women that couldn’t speak English or just didn’t want to bother with us and a man. We were never offered a refill on our drink and the waitress knew, she stood over by the door that goes into the kitchen and just stared at us. We were thinking maybe they have new owners. We couldn’t believe how filthy the place was but I do know, we won’t...
Read moreTook my wife and 2 year old daughter to eat Sunday Buffet. While walking to be seated there was a lady with her face barely above her plate, shoveling noodles into her mouth and scowling at me almost as if she thought I was going to take her food. It turns out that this was our waitress. She came to the table, pointed at my daughter and said, BE CAREFUL. She topped off our waters once during the meal. Soon after this She returned with the ticket, lays it on the table and places her finger on the TIP line and says, 'Here. For ME.' She did not leave the table, and stood over me and said Go Ahead right now, wanting me to fill out the tip section and final amount immediately. I typically tip in cash even if I pay with card so I drew a line through the tip section and finalized and signed the ticket. She laughed under her breath and said, Nothing for me? She took the ticket and said I come back. She returned and stood at the table and repeatedly said Thank You very loudly. After the 4th or 5th time, it was obvious she was meaning for us to get up and leave. My wife had not even finished the food. Wife became uncomfortable because waitress kept glaring at us and scowling.
Oh. And you charged $8 for a 2 year old to eat 2 wontons? A bit high.
Waitress, don't insist that you be tipped by pointing it out. Do a better job and you'll get a better tip. Don't stand over me while I fill out the ticket and insist I fill it out when we aren't even done eating. It intimidates some people and is rude to watch whether I tip or not. And don't get mad when your awkward tactics don't work every time. Lastly, slow down on those noodles before you...
Read moreI like this place. The servers are polite and will recognize and accommodate you easily, especially if you begin to come often.
The food is definitely good. You will notice that the food bins are not always full. The fried rice and hibachi rice get filled most frequently.
I appreciate that you can get crab and sushi as a normal buffet item and don't have to wait until certain hours. Both items taste great here.
The prices are great compared to what I'm used to. It's about $22 for two buffet takeout trays, so I try to help out with a good tip, which is...
