Tavern on the Trail — Restaurant in White Haven

Couldn't have found a better place for the evening. We were camping in the area and a rough storm was rolling through so we needed a place to "hide" for a few hours. Immediately greeted by an energetic, friendly, knowledgeable bartender , Christian (sp), who gave recommendations and kept the mood light with great puns and corny riddles.

We had a burger, a cheesteak, and (mild) wings... Wings - Such a great flavor for the mild sauce. Definitely ordering as an app regardless of what else I eat. Burger - 1/2 lbs of juicy, meaty goodness! Even the fresh cut fries were better than expected (definitely a crispy fry lover, but the flavor made up for the crispiness). Cheesesteak was delicious as well! We are from South Jersey and have a fondness of the AC Hardrolls for cheesesteaks, but the soft bread complimented the steak perfectly!

From the instant we walked in we loved the place. Greeted with a warm smile and friendly greeting. The food is very good..go for the wings, turkey club and the fries. The staff was welcoming courteous and we heard some very good stories. We are checking on the validity of the bear story...insert laugh here. The owner checked in with us as well. If You like good banter, good food and a hometown feel this place checks all the boxes.

We returned for an encore eight months later...wings once again are top notch, had chili this time and also very good. This place is a good time and very friendly but be ready for Christian the king...

What a wonderful little hidden gem. So many kind and welcoming people. Had such a great time chatting with the locals. Christian the bartender is awesome and has been there a very long time serving up some great drinks behind the bar that dates back to the 1800"s. Never made it to the pool table, but what a cool little pool area with pictures flashing back to another place in a time long forgotten. Food is incredible. Best cheese steak sandwich I have ever had. Thank you!! Al for going out of your way to cook up such amazing food after you had already closed down the kitchen. Very reasonable prices and non smoking. We will...
