Title: Disappointing Experience at San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant, and I am inclined to share my less than satisfactory experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess who seemed to have a negative attitude towards her job. She lacked the basic courtesy of a welcoming smile and was evidently indifferent to our presence. This immediately set a tone of discomfort, which, unfortunately, was a precursor of what was to come. We politely requested a booth instead of an open table, a request which seemed to irk the hostess. This reaction was surprising and uncomfortable for us as customers. The ability to accommodate reasonable requests within capacity is a fundamental aspect of hospitality, and this incident clearly showed a lack of training or understanding of the industry's basic standards. The food, which should have been the redeeming factor of the evening, sadly, fell short of expectations. For a restaurant that prides itself on its Mexican cuisine, the dishes were disappointingly subpar. In conclusion, my experience at San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant was far from pleasant. I strongly believe that maintaining authenticity among staff members and providing them with the necessary training in customer service should be a priority. I would not recommend San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant based on my experience. I hope they take these concerns seriously and work towards improving their service and food quality.

TLDR: a nice surprise in the otherwise lackluster land of Mexican food in Whitehall! This was the first time I’d been here and everything was great- the atmosphere, the service, the food, the horchata! Nommm! We got Chips and salsa with queso dip which was pretty good. Standard Mexican restaurant appetizer. We ordered Horchata and …a beer- I didn’t order it so I don’t remember what our friend ordered…but the horchata was good! Food ordered: TACOS DE CHORIZO Three corn or flour tacos stuffed with our delicious chorizo sausage. Served with rice, beans and salad. -I was told this was really good. Flavors were there, spice level was good, texture was great. TACOS DE PESCADO Three corn or flour tacos stuffed with fish. Served with rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and onions. - I had these and they were very tasty!!! They also put the onion on the side for me which I appreciate because I like onion but not a ton of it lol! CAMARON SUPREMO A tantalizing dish of shrimp and onions simmered in a creamy white mushroom sauce. Served with rice, beans and three flour tortillas.- our friend really enjoyed this dish. We will return if we are in the area!

We were looking for authentic Mexican. This place is not it. Although the food was ok, most tasted and looked as if it was straight out of a bulk serving can. Beans and rice were bland and flavorless, I swear tasted like the cheap la preferida can stuff. The chips were good. The salsa was also boring and little flavor. Didnt even have housemade sauces. There were bottles of subpar hot sauce sitting on the tables. Waitress added and charged extra that my husband ordered lettuce and cheese on his tacos, then served them with it on them, and also mounds on the plate of beans and rice (that come on the side of the taco order). We thought the margarita pitcher was a good deal, but clearly not handmade. Had to be made from a ready mix bottle. And then she didnt inform us that a flavor cost extra from the pitcher price. We were confused with the final bill and all the extra charges. For an order of steak tacos, and an order of rice and beans, along with a pitcher of margaritas ($15) our total was almost $40. The place had a nice appearance to it, that seemed to struggle for a Mexican feel. But everything seemed pretty clean. Even the bathrooms were nice.

We only go to San Marco's once or twice a year for special occasions (Annerversay or my husband's birthday). In the past we have had a very good experience. We went on a Monday night for my husband's birthday and there wasn't a big crowd. The waitress was not friendly, but not really rude, just abrupt (in the past the serving staff have always been so warm and inviting). This time it felt cold as if she really didn't want us there. We ordered our food and I asked about the birthday dessert, and was told they do fried ice cream, which we were planning to get and did let the waitress know. We ordered our food, and it was prompt. We got our appetizer and there was a hair in the Chorizo Charro so we sent it back and stated we did not want another one, because I wasn't really going to eat it again after almost biting into a long 2 inch brown course hair. I asked for extra napkins prior to getting out appetizer, but the waitress was so abrupt I wasn't able to remind. Then we got our food, a dish I had gotten in the past and loved, Caritas Mexicanas. My husband got the Steak Mexicano. My pork was dry and didn't have much flavor. My husband's steak was dry/tough and also wasn't very flavorful. Also, they forgot to add the avocado which is why he picked that meal over another. Then, when the waitress asked if we were done (half my pork was on the plate and she didn't offer a take out box, but the pork was bad anyway so it was fine). She took our plates and brought us the bill, even though we had let her know we had been planning on desert. We didn't say anything but we're disappointed because, well, it was his birthday. Since the experience was not a good one, we decided not to sat anything and just leave. Then, when we went to pay, we were charged for the appetizer with the hair, which we thought was going to be taken off the bill. It was just a really disappointing experience, especially since in the past it was a fun and festive place to eat. Not thay anyone cares but us, but that was his only birthday gift, and I'm really sorry it was such a...

I wish I had only good things to say but alas, I've had a mixed experience with this restaurant. My husband and I went to dine in today. He had the burrito loco which he absolutely loved, so that was good. I had the tilapia delight which was just...bland. Maybe that's just my taste though, idk. But it was a $17 meal that I only took 5 bites out of. The menu was also a bit misleading. Didn't say the tilapia was battered. Didn't say that there was bacon in it. So when the food was served I was a bit suprised. But hey! The bacon added umami to the dish so that was good I guess? 😅

To make matters worse, we'd only been eating 10 minutes when I already wanted to get our takeout boxes and leave. The reason being there were not 1, not 2, but 3 damn flies buzzing around our food, INDOORS, and I just didn't wanna wait until they got into it, know what I mean? I'm not a Karen, I promise. 😆 Just disappointed because before the pandemic this restaurant didn't have any of these issues. We enjoyed it back then. Maybe they're just understaffed now... But yeah... My husband and I were really looking forward to having quality dining out time together so this made us quite sad.

To management: I hope you can address whatever issues your establishment has right now. I wish you all the best in your...
