If you have any dietary restrictions or tend to want any substitutions, do not go here! I just got ostracized by the owner for a very simple request. I have been going here multiple times weekly for months and getting the salad with chicken on it. I always loved it and felt great afterward. About 2 weeks ago I felt sick for 1 1/2 days after eating the salad. I realized it was because it was dressed with a significantly excessive amount of oil compared to in the past. I do not have a gallbladder and therefore I cannot process a large amount of oil. The next time I went in for lunch the salad was the same. I brought it up to the counter and explained that the salad was significantly more oily than it has been in the past and was told that somebody new is dressing the salads and in the future to ask for just a tiny bit of oil. The next few times I went in that is what I did and it was no problem, it was better, and I felt fine afterwards. Today, I went up to the counter, asked for my salad with just a tiny bit of oil and when it came out it had so much oil the lettuce was already wilting. When I brought it up to the counter to say that I couldn’t eat it, I explained again about my gallbladder and asked if they could remake it. A woman, who I was told later is the owner, came out and aggressively told me “we cannot keep doing this, if you do not like it get something else.” Unfortunately, there is nothing else on the menu that I can get because I am gluten intolerant. What she did not know is that this had become my favorite spot for lunch because I could get a healthy high-protein salad that tasted delicious and made me feel wonderful afterwards. Also, I have referred several friends that have become regular customers. My sister is one of them and she has the same gallbladder issues as me so I guess they are losing two customers over this. She really did not seem to care at all whether or not she lost me as a customer. It’s very sad that I can no longer...
Read moreBeen here quite a few times. The man making the shawarma is always very rude and arrogant, but his shawarmas are usually ok.
This time though, it was cold inside. Instead of trying to correct it, he argued back with me and my wife and was so rude to her, saying it couldn’t be cold, without even checking it. That’s how you talk to women? Let me talk to your wife or mother like that, let’s see how you would feel? To make it worse, after finally checking it, he offered to microwave it? LOL. If they knew you microwave your shawarmas, your home country would never associate themselves with you.
Clearly this man is a delusional, arrogant and clueless (human? Maybe) and has no idea how to run a business nor how to talk to people.
This store is only highly rated because it’s the only place for miles where you can purchase middle eastern goods. If there were other options, they would be shut down. Never going back here again and I have convinced more than 20 others not to do so.
Learn how to talk with respect, it’s not very difficult to do, especially for a 40 year old like yourself. Idk who you think you are, but you make shawarmas for a living dude, you don’t run a billion dollar empire. Humble yourself, we will all die one day...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews, I was hoping we finally have a good Middle Eastern bakery/quick food place in the Lehigh Valley. Unfortunately, we still don't.
FOOD: The chicken shawarma was dry (extremely skimpy on the sauce) and the chicken was burnt and tough/rubbery.
Hummus is okay, but lacks depth of flavor. Baklava was bland - tastes like plain sugar. The cookies are so-so. I've tried cookies that friends have brought back from the Middle East or made here at home, and Soumaya's are pretty tasteless in comparison.
The only things I think are decent are the pita bread and meat pie. Pita is soft. Meat pie has some depth of flavor to it.
SERVICE: As far as service is concerned, it's so-so. The guy at the deli counter who makes the sandwiches is rude. He'll be nice only if you're a policeman. He should also stop being skimpy with the sauce in the shawarma. Cashiers and other servers are okay - they can be friendly.
The only good thing is that items are made fresh, hence the 2 stars. They just lack flavor. Prices are high, but that could be because of the Covid-induced food item shortages.
I think this establishment has business because there's no...
