Our experience at Knishes and Dishes was horrible. We won't be coming back, and I don't think you should either.

Our server was a lady with grey hair dyed purple, who did not actually greet us at the door. Usually, you expect to meet an employee after entering the restaurant, tell them how many to be seated, and then you are shown your seat. Instead, with a mouth full of food, she wordlessly waved at us from the back of the restaurant and pointed at a table. Throughout our experience at the restaurant, she was actively chewing with her mouth open.

Beyond that, the level of cleanliness was far below even basic standards - the table was sticky with some kind of food, the menus were dirty and wet, and there were food particles flying from the waitress's mouth when she tried to speak to us through mouthfuls. That an employee was eating in front of us is unacceptable by any food safety standard.

We had close friends highly recommend this restaurant and had brought us there as a treat, but it saddened us to have to leave our table before even ordering. Instead of taking our orders, she was socializing with other customers, eating throughout the dining room, and completely ignored us when we were ready to order. After waiting around for about 20-30 minutes, we decided to leave and were disappointed that we couldn't eat what was probably great food.

The friends that had brought us there recognized this employee from the past, and they agreed that, though this was indeed related to her usual behavior, this was egregious, even for her.

In order to avoid this terrible experience, I recommend that you request a different waitress should she be serving you. From a food safety and customer service perspective, I hope that her behavior changes or the restaurant hires a...

If you're looking for a basic breakfast experience, in the classic Jewish deli style, you'll be happy. Nothing will blow your mind, but you'll leave satisfied.

I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict, my wife ordered the loaded Latkes. I think the latkes were better.

Nothing bad about the Benedict, but nothing special either. Honestly, they could at least sprinkle some chives or parsley on top. Right now, it's sort of an under-seasoned hollandaise...desperately searching for more salt and maybe some vinegar or hot sauce. I added a lot of Tobasco, and a generous shower of salt to the whole plate, especially the bland and barely crispy home fries. But the smoked salmon is super fresh and they serve a generous portion. Eggs were perfectly poached.

The latkes are good, but more like a crispy Spanish tortilla-basically a mini potato frittata crispy-fried. It was thick, dense and eggy, not the way my grandmother would've made them. No super crunchy and lacy edges. But they cover the whole thing with a chopped Nova lox and red onion relish; that part is delicious.

Worst part was the coffee. Bland and watery. Best part was the lox: salty, fresh, and a bouyant mouth-feel.

The service is classic diner/deli: treat them well and they'll return it.

A no-frills breakfast. Don't expect too much and...

My girlfriend and I used to love this place, 4-5 star experiences every time, homey brunch dine-in feel. Food is also delicious and reasonably priced, in my opinion. However, after yesterday, we will probably not be coming back again. Never have I ever received (or, rather, not received) such horrible service in a restaurant. I understand staffing may be complicated these days, but there is no excuse for being ignored for nearly 30 minutes.

We started just standing at the door ignored with two other parties (7 total people just standing around near the door ignored), then after 10 minutes we were unceremoniously yelled at "Whoever's next come sit here!" If that were the only error it could be excused, but the worst part was sitting unattended (NOT EVEN GIVEN MENUS) at our table for almost 15 minutes while watching the other two parties that came in after us be waited on and have orders taken. Wait staff walked by us numerous times and never gave us a second glance. After we witnessed the second duo have their order taken and watched the waitress walk past us to put away the menus ignoring us yet again, we got up and left. None of the staff even noticed, and if they did they clearly...

It’s a shame, I used to really enjoy coming here for certain items for the last few years such as chicken salad. The last two times I’ve been there when I would get a pound container to go. It’s 25% mayonnaise. There should only be enough mayonnaise to keep it moist. Unfortunately I won’t be back I’m not spending $15-$17 for a pound of chicken salad is 25% of it is mayonnaise And they could definitely learn what extra extra lean, sliced thin corn beef means. It was cut way too thick and not trimmed properly. I grew up on Jewish soul food. Certain items here are definitely lacking The upside is, the staff is very nice.

OMG. The food here was so good. And the portions were amazing! We totally stumbled on this place, we were hungry and just saw the sign and pulled in. The outside is nothing to speak of, but then we went in and it was packed! Always a good sign. I guess locals know how good and authentic the food is, but I'm here to tell all you travelers that is definitely worth seeking out. If you are looking for authentic Jewish favorites you will find them! I had the loaded latkes (picture) and couldn't finish although it was so good! My husband had a western omelette (picture). Atmosphere is nothing fancy, but it was clean.
