Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Whiteville

We stopped at this sonic on our way home from Carolina Beach. It was getting close to 10pm, so options were limited. We placed our order at one of the drive up menus. It took a little while to get our food, but with 7 of us in our party, that was understandable. What is not understandable was missing 3 sandwiches when they have a pick list count on the bottom of the receipt. You should be able to count that there are only 4 sandwiches instead of 7.

After we got our food, we drove around to their patio parking to eat outside. As we were checking the food, we realized we were missing an order of tots, 2 burgers, and a chili cheese Coney. The only server that we saw was at another vehicle just chit-chatting with the driver. So we were waiting for her to get done. We waited for over 10 minutes, with her talking this whole time before we caught the attention of another server who had come out. We told her what we needed and she went inside to get it. Another 15 minutes passed before we got the rest of our food, with the first server still outside just talking.

What we did get was very subpar. One footlong Coney was supposed to have onions, it did not. An order of popcorn chicken that they claim is supposed to be "sauced up" was extremely dry and had almost no sauce on it. Our root beers had almost no syrup to them, it looked like they had filled our cups out of a dirty stream.

Anytime we head to or from Carolina Beach, we will avoid this Sonic like the plague. We probably could have gotten better food at the gas station down the street. Expected a lot better for...

The manager and his staff are TOP NOTCH!

I placed an order online for pick up 40min before closing time. When we arrived, the manager POLITELY came and asked us if we really wanted the burrito I had ordered for my son. When I told him yes, it was the one thing my son had wanted… the manager had no problem going back inside and personally making my sons breakfast burrito hot and fresh just for him. (We found out later that the grill had already been shut down and cleaned because nobody orders breakfast just before closing.) So I want everyone to know… this man will do whatever it takes to make you happy with your meal. If there’s a problem don’t hesitate in speaking with him. He could have just said no we couldn’t have the burrito, but he didn’t!

We’ve been coming here since they opened, and him and his excellent staff, especially Trisha (our favorite!), are the BEST!

Stopped again today for a late lunch. Tabitha was WONDERFUL & extremely thoughtful. We ordered large combos but were only charged for mediums. I really drink a lot, so the large drinks were important to me. As I was placing an online order just for drinks (to make up for the smaller drinks), Tabitha brought us medium drinks to make up for the mistake. It’s thoughtful people like her, that keep us coming back. I greatly appreciate her kindness. Thank You for another wonderful hot, fresh meal with WONDERFUL service!...

The service was fast but we didn't get all of our order. We ordered the jumbo popcorn chicken entree, chicken tender entree, a Oreo cheesecake shake and a cheesecake shake with peanut butter. We weren't given the entree part of the popcorn chicken and none of the requested ranch sauce. The chicken tenders entree was missing the Texas toast. Out of our entire order, the only thing that tasted good was the popcorn chicken and the tater tots. The chicken strips were the worst chicken I've had in my life. The breading was like rubber and the chicken had no flavor at all. I was done after one bite. The onion ring had no onion. The Oreo cheesecake shake had chunks of what tasted like sour cream. The cheesecake shake with peanut butter tasted like burnt peanut butter. I have no idea how you can ruin a milkshake but this location succeeded. We threw them out after being able to stomach about 1/3 of each. This was by far the absolute worst fast food meal I have ever purchased in my life. We were passing through the area or I would have returned for my money back. We ended up throwing out the meal and went somewhere else for food. On a positive note, really the only positive note of this meal, the tater tots were amazing.
