I came to McBrides's tonight to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and we had the worst food and service we've ever had at this restaurant. We ordered quickly but waited over 20 minutes for our drinks. Then our salads, combo platter, and food all arrived within five minutes. We didn't have time to enjoy anything, because our table was crammed with food. Mine and my daughter's steaks were pale and tough, and my other daughter's food was cold by the time she could get to it. We came here just last week and raved about the food- I'm not sure what was going on tonight.
Our server, Alexis, was curt and did not apologize at any point- for the timing of the food being brought out, for us not being happy with the food. Most servers at least say "Sorry about the wait," but she didn't bother. After we complained about the food, she just said, "Ok, what do you need me to bring you?" She has served us before and not been particularly warm, but the service was fine. Tonight she seemed annoyed to serve us. I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication or mess up in the kitchen that was not her fault, but no one wants to pay $16 for an appetizer platter and then feel rushed to eat it because your entree came out alongside it. An apology or even recognition of the problem would have gone a long way, but there was nothing.
When we asked to speak with a manager, we could hear LOUDLY from the kitchen someone go, "REALLY? THEY WERE THAT MAD???" Which is very professional when you go to a nice place to eat. The manager came out and was also not apologetic about the food- she blamed the cook, and didn't say anything about the timing other than an explanation that the potato skins took a long time. She discounted our ticket but didn't seem overly concerned. We love McBride's and we go every couple of weeks to celebrate birthdays, special occasions, or to just have a nice meal out. We have never had a bad thing to say before.
We didn't want our entire ticket comped or anything like that, we wanted to enjoy eating our meal and be respected by the staff, instead of having people in the back going "OH MY GOD" about us. I was really floored by the behavior of the staff, and definitely won't feel comfortable coming back in the future. We didn't make a scene, we just answered honestly the "How is everything?" But neither our server or the manager sincerely apologized or tried to make it right, and instead were clearly talking and gawking about us from the back. I am so disappointed, this is not what we expect from a restaurant we've been coming to...
Read moreOk, now from 1st glance its a hole in the wall, alot of senior citizens walking in makes it feel less than good for younger people.
But lets walk in, a beautiful large fire place is right in the center of the restaurant, good decor around it, but unlite, which is depressing to look at. A warm fire would bring in more customers for the country feel. The lighting has some old 1940's glass lamps which throws off the setting completely. They need to get some old lanterns/fake electrical candles to bring the western feel.
But lets move to the people. The ladies at the front smell great and have a good wax smile but turns fridged as they are walking you to your table like a death march which is disturbing. A good honest smile would make repeat customers.
Once at the table the wait staff is nice, but noticing the kitchen which is easy to see made it feel like your in a burger joint instead of a restaurant. Also watching as the cook or disher washer constantly eyeballing the customers as his girlfriend was doing her rounds was not hard to notice especially when he is touching her wrist when she walked back everytime to the kitchen. Keep your professionalism in the restaurant should be instilled. Maybe some wooden old style push apart doors would help this, and natch the decor
Now the food. I ordered a prime rib with salad and a baked potatoes. Now the salad was iceberg cold, I mean wow I thought I found a pcs of ice in it. The carrots were bendable instead of crunchy. Might want to take it out the fridge for a bit longer before serving. Now when the rib came out it was succulent and delicious and that's where I tip my hats off to the chef fantastic job. It was delicious easy to cut, and was accompanied by a delicious potato only bad thing about the potato was tooooo much aluminum peel it back a bit more. Now back to the steak, though it was delicious it was killed off by getting to cold to quickly by the plate which were also fridged. You might want to get some iron skillets to keep it hot and warm while you eat. Cold steak is not good, and you guys killed what the chef worked hard to make. But all and all not bad the chefs rib saved the...
Read moreThe other night six of us went out to eat just celebrate one of the guys birthday. We got there about 5:15 and so we were able to take advantage of the early bird dinner menu. Our server was very pleasant and the food was, for the most part, good. The ladies who ordered shrimp said that it was very good but those of us who had steak we're somewhat dissatisfied with the large amount of fat in our steaks. You always expect to have some, because that is what brings out the flavor, but to have as much as we did seemed a little excessive to me. My friend, who always cuts away the fat because it bothers him, ended up losing almost half of his steak due to the amount of fat. I'm not a big fan of eating steak fat either, but I refrained from cutting away all but the most extreme amounts of it. The flavor and all of our steaks was good but it was just hard to eat such a fatty piece of meat. My girlfriend remarked that Ribeyes are generally fatty, and I agree, but this seemed excessive. The sirloin for two also seem to have more fat than normal. I hope that this was just an anomaly and that any return trips will not consist of such poor quality of steak. I also wish that our waitress had been better about refilling our drinks. We were there quite a time and I only got one refill of tea when she brought the main course. I waited and waited for her to return to refill my glass during the meal but after she dropped off the ticket we never saw her again and I had to ask another server for a glass of tea. This was not what I consider good service as far as checking your tables drinks. I waited on tables when I was younger and my son does so now, so I do understand what is involved in making sure that your tables are well taken care of. I don't go to McBride's often and this trip has not got me in the mood for a quick return, but I know that I will be back. I just hope that the quality of food and service is...
