Stone Oven Pizza — Restaurant in Wichita Falls

This was my second time trying this place. The first time I ordered delivery and the pizza flavor left nothing to be desired. But I always give new places a try a second time before judging too harshly.

So, I decided to try them this time for lunch since they are right down from my office. I called ahead for a pick up delivery. I asked the man on the phone if they offered personal size pizzas and he told me yes. He said it was a 7” pizza that came with up to 3 toppings for 8.99. I felt that was reasonable and so I order a pepperoni with jalopenos. He then told me my price would be $14 and some change. That was a far stretch from the $9 price he add given me to be just tax so I inquired and was told I was being charged an additional 1.99 per topping. On a pizza that comes with up to 3? That is ridiculous! So I canceled my order. I then was instructed that they had a lunch special for $10 and some change that came with the exact same pizza I had just ordered and a drink. Don’t ask my how I get more for less because it doesn’t make sense but I decided I’d go ahead and do that option.

When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, I was not greeted with a smile or a “how are you”. You know, the usual customer service you expect to receive from a small local business happy to have your business. Instead an oversized dirty tattooed man who barely spoke 2 words to me and was insistent at pointing to everything to instruct me what he wanted me to do was what I got.

I had to ask for my drink that came with the special, only to get a grumbled “over there” and a pointed finger to the drink fridge off to the side of the ordering station.

When I got to eat my pizza it was not very good. The pizza sauce had barely any flavor to it and what was there was this mild sweetness. That may just be a preference but I prefer a bold marinara sauce with lots of flavor. This left my palette a lot to be desired. I ate half of the pizza and tossed the rest. It wasn’t very tasteful and I didn’t care to eat more of it.

In the end, I felt the staff was rude and probably didn’t understand their menu or its pricing. Not to mention the place didn’t feel clean even though I didn’t eat there, I still would like my food to be made in a clean place. It just looked dingy (not eclectic either) while I looked around standing in line to get my order. Then the pizza was not even worth it. Its bland unflavorful ingredients don’t make me a true believer in this small local business. I won’t be back! Stone Oven was awesome. It's not part of a national chain, it's local and uses quality ingredients.

Atmosphere is hole in the wall, exposed masonry kinda thing. Awesome art and signs all over the walls. 4 person tables with little mini games to play while you wait. Or play their multi arcade machine for a quarter. And rolled ice cream being made and sold in the back.

Cashier was friendly and offered us a menu as we couldn't read their video board fast enough. Pizzas are 14" and kinda expensive, but remember this isn't pre-made frozen dough made by the thousands from the big guys.

We started with the cheesebread, which was more like a calzone than the pizza dough with cheese on it like the big companies sell us. SO's was much tastier. Waitress was very friendly and had no problem getting us a side of ranch when I asked. Said if we needed anything else to let her know. We got there equivalent to a meat lovers pizza. It was soo delicious. I'm a big fat guy, normally a 14" I can do by myself, this time we couldn't finish it between 2 adults and a 4yo. Pizza was filling also. We also got a slice of pepperoni pizza for my son. It was a quarter slice, not the standard eighth slice....

The worst service I’ve ever had at a restaurant….. all workers there were exstreamly rude and mean I also ordered a 6 peice wing and waited for them for 45 minutes every one with me had already ate and waited on me for 34 minutes after they had done finished there food I’d never go back there again plus my wings were cold when I got them I recommend a cold gas station sandwich over this place such a horrible experience that was 1-18-22

Reply to your rude conclusion: So I guess you watched every one order at same time and get there food and eat and leave as I waited to get my food also I’m not trying tear down anything local or non local I’m just saying do better at your job I’ve been there several times and never once have I been satisfied with y’all’s service it’s always either cold or wrong plus it takes forever my brother in law order same amount of wings as I did and his was out in about 15 minutes and everyone ate beside me and left before I even got my food just step up your business is all is needed thanks and have...
