If you’re on the lookout for a culinary gem that combines heartwarming hospitality with mouthwatering dishes, look no further than The Loft. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this charming eatery is a celebration of Southern flavors and home-cooked goodness.
Fried Catfish: A Crispy Delight
Let’s start with the star of the show: the fried catfish. Cooked to golden perfection, this dish is a testament to the kitchen’s mastery. The catfish is flaky and tender, encased in a crispy, seasoned batter that strikes the perfect balance between crunch and flavor. Each bite transports you to a Southern bayou, where the fish is freshly caught and expertly fried. Served with a side of tangy tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon, it’s a dish that will leave you craving more.
Meatloaf: A Comfort Classic
Next up is the meatloaf, a classic comfort food that often gets overlooked, but here it shines brightly. This is not your average meatloaf; it’s rich, savory, and infused with a medley of spices that elevate it to new heights. The texture is wonderfully moist, thanks to a mix of ground beef and pork, and the glaze on top adds a sweet and tangy finish that perfectly complements the hearty flavor. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans, it feels like a warm hug on a plate.
Service: An Experience to Remember
What truly sets The Loft apart is the excellent service. From the moment you walk in, the staff treats you like family. They are attentive without being intrusive, offering recommendations with genuine enthusiasm. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and clearly passionate about the food, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
Dessert: A Must-Try Peach Cobbler
And let’s not forget the grand finale: the peach cobbler. This dessert is a must-try that should not be missed. It arrives warm, with a golden-brown crust that crumbles beautifully under your spoon. The peaches are perfectly sweetened, bursting with flavor and nostalgia. Paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.
Final Thoughts
The Loft is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that captures the essence of Southern hospitality and flavor. With its excellent meal offerings, warm service, and a dessert that’s simply unforgettable, The Loft is a must-visit for anyone seeking a true taste of comfort food done right. Read moreWe have been planning to go to The Loft for a while and decided that last night was the time. There have been many rave reviews, which lead us to have pretty high expectations. I am pleased to say that they were easily met. The entire experience ensured that we will return. It started with the giant saltwater fish tank at the elevator, continued as we made our way through the light and airy dining area, and ended with an excellent dinner. Our waitress Serenity was excellent. She answered any questions that we had about the menu and she took very good care of us during our dinner. They had a good choice of items on the menu, some of which are higher priced than others, but they are definitely more affordable then some people probably would believe. Our food was fresh and very tasty. Jennifer had the salad bar and a bowl of tomato basil soup. I opted for the meatloaf with green beans and macaroni and cheese. Jennifer has a pretty refined palate and really appreciates a savory tomato soup, which is not something that is easily found. I am pretty particular about meatloaf, green beans and macaroni and cheese. LOL. I decided to go all out and put them to the total test. We both were extremely happy with our dinner. Everything was prepared flawlessly. I even have to say that the sweet tea was very good, and not overly sweet. I don't usually get dessert but I opted to try the blueberry cobbler. It came in its own little tin and had a topping like a fruit crisp. It was just as excellent as the dinner. I ventured outside, despite the fact that it has been raining off and on all day, just to check out the deck area. I know that I look forward to spending some time up there with friends in the future on a temperate spring/summer/fall evening. There were plenty of chairs as well as benches and couches for people to sit together and have an enjoyable evening under the stars. I would definitely rate this among the best restaurants in Wichita Falls and would encourage everyone to try it at least once. Like I said, you can go there and spend $75 or $100 a person, or you could spend about $15 a person, and either way you will be...

Large spacious dining area. Does have a large private dining room too.
I've been a handful of times now, trying to sample a different entrée with each visit.
Salad bar is large and a Vegan dream, but I myself am here for the meats!
Appetizers ... I am solidly hooked on their Deviled Eggs and Candied Bacon. I'm a huge fan of Deviled Eggs and these are spot on in flavor and just melt on the taste buds. Two words, Candy & Bacon, do I really need to say more?
Entrées ... the Meat Loaf is to die for, you won't go wrong with that choice. Smothered Pork Chop is huge and delicious. 12oz Ribeye, twice now has been a large cut, cooked and flavored to perfection, no bite wasted. BBQ Plate was spot on with flavor from the Brisket, Sausage, and Ribs. The BBQ sauce is a house recipe blend of Blueberries and Bourbon. l am no fan of Blueberries, but did find i enjoyed this sauce.
Sides ... I have not been disappointed in any of my side choices, all are very tasty if I mention them here. Glazed Carrots, Green Beans, Corn Casserole, Jalapeño Hushpuppies, Mashed Potatoes, and Cornbread.
Desserts ... I've had the Chocolate Decadence Cake and the Buttermilk Pie. You can never go wrong with "Chocolate Death" cake and the Buttermilk Pie has a better taste and texture than cheesecake.
Service has been well above expectations with Gunner, Julian, and Jamie. Chef Mikel came out to introduce himself tonight and filled me in on the BBQ sauce. Everyone on staff have been quite friendly and accommodating.
The place is spotless clean, bathrooms are clean, the whole appearance is well on the eyes.
They do have an outdoor dining patio, but this is Texas summer and my butt prefers ice cold air-conditioning.
I highly recommend you...
