It has got to be the most BLAND pho I have had. I couldn't taste the beef in the broth, just the noodles water. I wanted to make sure, so I asked for extra broth, but same flavor.
A large bowl will get you a lot of noodles, a tiny amount of meat toppings, and not a lot of broth.
Also, for service, no water was provided at all, and I wasn't given notice for the extra charge on broth. I don't mind paying, I just want transparency.
To reply to the owner's reply below: They asked if I wanted any drinks, and I said no. Maybe they misinterpreted it. I cleaned my bowl after I added a whole spoon of fish sauce (not even a decent quality fish sauce) and a whole spoon of hosin sauce and because I didn't eat for the whole day. How dare you ask me to quit eating the food I am paying for? I am talking about the flavor of beef, not msg. I really appreciate if you had done research of the difference between beef broth and MSG.
Due to the lack of understanding and rejection to improve, I am lowering from 2 stars to 1 star review.
If you made it this far, as a Vietnamese person who lived in Vietnam for a long time, this is far worse from any pho I have tasted. I really had high hopes for this restaurant in the first place. I would not...
Read moreCOMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! 3/10 Broth doesnt taste like pho, its weak and hot-doggy. No detectable clove, coriander or cinnamon whatsoever. No complexity. Not given silverware. No salt at the table. No napkins at the table. Large size was overpriced and small, served in a bizarre metal prep-bowl that tasted like metallic tang. Meatballs were awful, tasted and looked like they were made with unseasoned ground beef and had nothing to do with what vietnamese meatballs are like. Horrible place. The menu is dumbed-down and had no vietnamese on it anywhere, the server had to ask what Pho Tai Bo Vien meant (Rare beef with meatballs). Never returning.
Spring rolls were freezing cold and this breaks down the cell walls of the lettuce and makes them squishy and wilted. They should be freshly made at room temperature. The peanut sauce was the best thing in the restaurant because this is clearly run by an Indian family, not anyone vietnamese at all.
This was terrible and I am so sad that everyone in town has been telling me to go here and its absolutely miserable. Had to drive 16 minutes to be served beef soup. Barely any cilantro. This list is endless.
I ordered pho but never...
Read moreWe ordered SO much food (2 HUGE bowls of Pho with meatballs, 1 HUGE bowl of Pho with a varietyof protein, 2 plates with 2 spring rolls, fried banana with coconut glaze, 2 sodas, 2 lemonade, and 1 Mango Boba Tea) yet the bill was still less than $60!
Very clean too - they had the tables more than 6ft apart, were wearing masks, and consistently wiped down tables after guests left.
Our waitress was GREAT! She was very quick to fill our drinks before we, ourselves, realized they were near empty. And, she was aware of not putting the hot bowls too close to my baby's reach, and she didn't make a fuss at how messy they were (sorry), but was cheerful and friendly to everyone.
From what I could tell, there were several regulars that come here - i love restaurants like that! Loyal customers means the quality is worth coming back for. I'm definitely coming back - I want to try everything...
