This place has really gone downhill. I'll never go back. Ok everyone, Thank you all for your support/concern/input. You are greatly appreciated and valued by me as a fellow Wichita, Delano Native, musician and friend. It is for this reason that the issue is of such great importance to, not just me, but our wonderful Delano District and Wichita as a whole. I want each and every one of you to know that I would have done the same for any of you given the same circumstances. It is true that The Shamrock Lounge has been an institution of our great neighborhood for many years. I have frequented there since I was 21 (3rd generation), with my dad, uncles, cousins etc. I value the Shamrock as a place of Wichita Tradition. For these reasons, and many more, I chose to break up 2 girls(both bigger than even I) jumping 1 smaller girl who had really done nothing to them. Yes, I got attacked, too. I’m fine with that. I was not intoxicated. I would do the same for any of you. My focus and issue comes when some unknown “thug”) starts threatening me after he egged on the fight in the first place. He was also told people who were coming into the bar from the patio that I was the one beating up the victim. There are statements from both bartender and victim that report I did not start the fight or hit any woman. I called the owner (Dave) the next morning to warn him of this guy who was causing trouble in his bar. In other words, I was looking out for Dave and the bar and most of all, my friends and fellow Wichitans, and tried to do so discreetly. That’s when Dave first accused me of starting the incident. He back-pedaled in the thread after I posted the bartender’s statement that I did not start the fight. Due to his lack of willingness to reason, concern, or make an effort to resolve my issue with some guy who arrived with the manager and provoked/started a fight, I gave a 1 star review and have called for a boycott. It is the owner’s failure to address the issue appropriately that disturbs me. It is the owner’s failure to identify and address who this unknown assailant is. It is entirely irresponsible to blame me for this fight and falsely claim that I hit a woman. To summarize, his only reaction to this entire incident has been to attack my character. I look forward to the owner’s statement that addresses the issue of public safety at The Shamrock Lounge, clarifies who this guy was that attacked me, retracts his statements claiming that I hit a female and apologizes to me, I will stand by this boycott. It is for the safety of everyone that I am willing to stake my reputation on this and endure insults. My friends, fellow musicians, neighbors and fellow Wichitans, please be on guard for the safety of yourselves and your loved ones, as you have seen how the owner has responded thus far. I wish everyone have a fun and safe evening no matter...
Read moreI feel like I need to first state while I have seldom gone out in the last 10 years to a club for a good time, I have no problem writing a review for this establishment.
This was my 4th stop of my evening on a Bar Hopping Saturday night. It was By Far The Best Place I Went!! I had never been here before, and will be going back for another visit soon to this Great Hidden Gem in a neighborhood in the Delano District. MUSIC: Playing when we arrived were 'Mountain Deer Revival.' Good variety of country and rock covers. BAR SERVICE: I recommend NOT ordering from whomever the Lady was behind the bar. Not having been out in so long my drink order was VERY simple. This slow, forgetful (she had to reask me my order 4x) Lady screwed up my drink so badly, to the point I couldn't even drink it and had to have the drink remade! The Gentleman who was working behind the bar however, was a tried and true visionary of his craft! Our Gentleman Bar Keep had made my previous 2 drinks of the evening and then remade the Ladies screwup... ATMOSPHERE: There were pool tables at the front of the establishment. With a few dart boards available as well. The biggest surprise was the Hand Shuffle board table across from the bar! Great seating for singles or groups hanging out at the North end of the building with a smallish stage. But there was a dance floor area which gives them kudos for giving people the opportunity to dance. It was a nice variety to also have both covered and uncovered outdoor patios. COST: $$ PARKING: Plenty of parking around the establishment with a parking lot across the street to the west, parking behind the building off the north side and on the street outside of the building. There you have it, my local drink downing, partying lovelies! Take it as you will! Hope to see you out...
Read moreThis is a Bar Rescue 911. Asked for a margarita and got... I have no clue what. Tasted nothing like a margarita and had Sprite in it. Another person I went with got one also but it had a dead GNAT in it. When showing the bartender she was not even phased and acted like she couldn't care less. So I'm assuming all of the liquor bottles are full of dead bugs. She paid more attention to the old guy regulars, one of which took over our pool table and she saw that we were there first but said nothing to him about it while gabbing away at him. We were pretty much over it after the drink fiasco though because it killed the vibe so we just let him have it. I understand catering to regulars but if you don't cater to everyone you will not pull in tourists for that extra income.
The building is moldy and falling apart. The walls in the bathroom are terrifying and bubbling out with black mold poking through. I felt like the structure would collapse at any minute. Very dated, dirty, decrepit, and has terrible staff. Idk if they serve food but I hope not for the sake of public safety. I'm assuming that the positive Google ratings are old and the establishment has since gone downhill because nothing about our experience said...
