**DISCLOSURE: this review is not meant to be spiteful in any way. I just want to share my experience and help inform the owner.** I've been wanting to do review after the last few visits but wasn't sure until today. so here it goes Today I placed an order at approx.. 5:55 pm then waited 20 minutes outside. I went in to get the order and was told it would another 5-7 minutes. As I'm waiting there are more people coming inside that were there for doordash, pickup or to place an order. It was pretty busy(I saw 8-10 order tickets). The workers seemed to be "swamped", frustrated , confused and disorganized. There were two bags on the counter with my name on the order ticket so I told a worker and they said it was still missing an item. Okay so I wait some more just watching my order sitting one the counter. During that time I see the owner "personally " ring up two older men that came in after me and gave them two cups which I assume were free because the bartender said only the owner can do that or something. Eventually a worker named Jock comes and apologizes for my order being overlooked and proceeded to ring up my order so I could pay( approx. at 6:45pm). He did this on the dine in side which has an seperate entrance door so I didn't go around and see the final details of my transaction. Afterwards I go to my car to double check the food and see that the order was wrong there was a 6pc spicy ranch wing instead of 10 , then on got 11 out of 12 wings for the next set and the grilled cheese had burnt marks.... that was the last straw for me( everything else on the ordered seemed correct just didn't want any of it anymore). So I went back in for a refund and in the middle of that the same male worker goes back to talk to the owner about a customer on the phone missing a set of wings. She says "Are they a regular?" He says ' yes their name is [blank]" she says " oh ok yea just tell them we got them on they next order" (or something along those lines) then he comes back and finishes the call then asks me what was wrong with the order then proceeds to apologize again and issue the refund( picture will be attached). It was "wing wednesday " so I can kind of understand why is was a little hectic but still just very disappointing and frustrating. The last few times I've went here(usually every other wednesday), it seems like my order isn't quite right ( salty wings, salty okra, stiff or soggy fries, dirt tasting potatoes, chunky ranch, dry cakes etc.). The staff seemed very unorganized and lack proper communication.... I do like this place so I might give another try on different wednesday. About half the time the food is actually pretty good , hot and fresh.I hope this place can do better in the future..

I have been wanting to try this place for so long that I finally stopped by today. I went with my sister and was so excited. Well when we first went in it wasn't busy one person in front of us ordered. I knew what I wanted to try already the steak fries and the wings. They lady was nice she took my order. She said about 15 minutes and I bought there blue kool-aid. There was a jug set out and I asked if I get it there and she said no that she would bring mine out. My sister ordered she got the Philly cheese burrito. We sat down and my sister looked at her ticket and noticed they charged for liquor tax and was wondering what that was for so we waited for the food. When we got our food she asked what the charge was for and the lady said well I was actually supposed to charge 3$ more for that burrito. She said that burrito was 14$ and that is what she paid so where was the extra 3 coming anyway they gave her the tax back. We opened the food I was completely disappointed. It looked good but the wings were soggy and not hot it was luke warm and i figured that cause the containers wasnt hot. I know having sauce could make it not as crispy but these had to have been sitting for a while for them to be that soggy. They didn't taste like real chicken. It tasted like frozen fried chicken with sauce on it. The steak fries not what I pictured. The steak didn't have any seasoning and seen 1 little piece of bell pepper in it. It just tastes like a bunch of grease. My sister said her burrito was good but definitely won't return. This was at second location. My sister did say the first location was better. Maybe I will one day try the other location. I will say that blue kool-aid was on point best thing I bought. If I could take chicken chicken restaurants wings with Nelson's buffalo sauce it would of been perfect.

My significant other and I were driving around the other day trying to decide where to go eat. IL Vicino crossed my mind, and she mentioned Wichita Brewing Company. For some reason, pizza sounded like a good idea. But she really wanted soul food. Where we landed wasn't anything like that as far as I'm concerned. But Nelson's Kitchen was a close second. I've been here in the past several times but they're always closed when I stop by. I guess their operating hours on Google at the time didn't match up with their actual hours of operation. I ended up ordering a Philly Cheesesteak and a Shrimp Basket for her. I tried one of her shrimp, and it was your basic style of frozen shrimp you'd order off a truck. It came with two sauces. I'm not a cocktail sauce fan so I didn't try it at all. But the Cajun sauce I did try and it was phenomenal. Sweet and tangy and super spicy. Something I'm sure they made themselves. As far as the Philly goes, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten at a family owned restaurant bar none. Greasy, with a touch of seasoning. It contained mushrooms, green peppers, onion, cheese on a butter toasted bun. Not to mention it was loaded with shaved beef. I have to say, the butter toasted bun made the sandwich. Took it from above average to amazing.

Greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we got in the door. Order at the counter and then choose your table. Food was brought out in a timely manner and was delicious!

We got: •Fish dinner with okra and Mac'n'cheese for the sides • 6 pc chicken wings, Original •Big Back sandwich w/fries •Chicken'n'waffles

Everything was prepared perfectly. The fish, chicken and pork chop were nice and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Well seasoned throughout.

The sides were all very good as well. The okra was especially good, some of the best I've had.

Had a slight hiccup with the wings due to a misunderstanding on my part. I ordered them with Valerie's Sweet Heat but must not have spoken up enough. The cashier then asked if I wanted them original and I replied "yes" thinking she was referring to traditional vs boneless 🤦. Didn't realize my mistake until they brought them out. They were very nice and offered to correct it but I chose to stick with the Original flavor they brought out to get a baseline. They were still very good especially with some hot sauce, but I definitely want to try the sweet heat on my next visit.

We really liked the Big Back sandwich too, just keep in mind that it's a bone-in pork chop. So pull the bone out before taking a big ole bite, lol.

All in all it was a great visit and I'm looking forward to...
