Riverside Cafe — Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre

It's sad that the bar's ownership is not a welcoming atmosphere towards minorities. The Riverside is one of the few places in the Wyoming Valley that has an overwhelmingly diverse group of customers that together share a laugh and a drink; however, two unabashed Crow-like signs of cultural assimulation don't make it an inviting business for all members of South Wilkes-Barre. For the past few years, a tattered sign on the door calls for no sideways hats, bandanas, and to (inexplicably) pull your pants up. Recently, a handwritten poster in the center of the bar prohibits rap and hip hop music. Both of these seem intended at making it unwelcoming for a certain type of demographic.

The bar also campaigned in June 2015 against a Hispanic barbershop that was looking to be zoned at a business location across the street that has been vacant for the past three decades. Parking was vocally his primary concern, despite the fact there is ample room during the day, and barbershops typically do not bring...

Waiting over 1 hour for a simple pizza and mozzarella sticks, the place isn't even busy. It's nearly empty. We asked what happened to our food order and the bartenders tell us they don't serve tables. We weren't asking for table service, we were asking what happened to the food order we paid for and didn't get while several other patrons that arrived after us were already eating. After a while one of the bartenders then tells us our order was not sent to the kitchen. So when they enter a food order into their pos terminal it doesn't print out in the kitchen? Anyway, the lesson learned here is unless you're a regular don't expect (a) food (b)...

UPDATE: Went here for the kids pizza for a sleep over, i had a certificate from the clipper and they refused to honor it, i drove from scranton to this place and they refused to honor their end of the deal with clipper magazine, definitely wont get any more business from me now. Don't know what all the don't wear this don't wear that dont play rap nonsense posts on the building are about but it put me off, the food we ordered before arriving so we picked it up and were on our way regardless.
