So I’m on a job site in the area and was tired of big chain fast food. I googled bacon egg and cheese wilkesbarre this place popped up review said best New York style bacon egg and cheese. It was all I needed I drove there. I get there the store is dirty outside and inside is unkept but so are the fast food places. I walk in I see some Dominican food that I had and liked, I asked for a bacon egg and cheese he asked how many I said I’ll take two. They say something to each other in Spanish and I ask for some of the Dominican food with it they told me no I can’t have any of that so I said ok. I grab a soda and pay. They ring me up and start whispering in Spanish. The total was 13.88 two sandwiches and a ginger ale. No greeting still or nothing. A man walks in and disappears in the back as I’m there I just asked, is it okay for me to be here is it a problem? He replies it’s coming like the food is almost ready I say ok. I get handed a bag and leave. I eat one in the car immediately they used reheated bacon and the egg was flat like they cooked one single egg per sandwich. It was NOT. New York City style maybe Rochester ny style or New York ave in Texas style but not like the five boroughs. When I get to my next break I’m eating the second one ans I see a black line in the egg. I see it’s a piece of hair! I was so disgusted and sick to my stomach. I will never eat at this...
Read moreI stumbled upon this spot by chance and decided to give it a try. It was quiet and clean. Lots of choice for drinks and dessert in the fridges. However, I only ordered a breakfast platter and a chopped cheese. The breakfast platter came with egg, bacon strawberries, oranges and French Toast. You can alternatively have pancakes or sausage and ham. I thought it was pretty tasty. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Not hard as a rock, but nice and crispy. The egg was folded and maybe would've been better with some cheese. I'm not sure if I could've asked for that. It was satisfying regardless. The French Toast was honestly really good. Definitely the star of the show. And then the strawberries and oranges tasted very fresh. Next up was the chopped cheese. It was good but left a bit to be desired. Not that the flavor wasn't tasty, but maybe a little more meat could've been used. All the ingredients that made it up were great, but with the thickness of the bread that was used, it felt like there wasn't enough meat to compensate. Might just be a personal preference. But, all that said, I recommend this place. They were nice, friendly and kept me updated if my wait went beyond what was said prior. I'd come here again to try more of their...
Read moreFirst time trying Wilkes-Barre Deli today. I've been following them on instagram for a bit and we had been meaning to try it based off just the photos for weeks.
Very friendly staff, we were offered free coffee while we waited, which was not long at all. The two breakfast sandwiches were made to order and were awesome... the bacon egg and cheese on a plain bagel was great, I have zero criticism.
I saw they had chicharrons and I had to get some to try. As soon as I got home I had to sample those first, it came with lime wedges and a green sauce. WOW... those were FREAKING AWESOME, tender meat, crispy skin, even plain they were great but with the lime and sauce... insane.. I wanted to eat the whole half pound before we even dug into the sandwiches.
So glad I finally got around to going there. I'll be sure to go back when I can.
Seem like very good people trying to bring the NYC deli experience finally to the valley....
