This is not my first review of Tunnel City, a nice coffee house which serves uniformly excellent espresso.
I first came here probably in 2005. I don't come often because I live in the Boston area, but I often come when I'm driving between my house and that of a close friend outside of Albany, NY (I take the backroads because they only take about an hour longer, and it actually feels much shorter because the scenery is so much more interesting and the driving so much more fun).
Tunnel City has the most reliably good espresso of any establishment I've frequented. Their espresso has always put a big smile on my face, and kept it there while I nursed the latte for at least an hour. (Today I made the latte last all the way home, a distance of 125 miles, despite the numerous times I stopped to take photos in the Pioneer Valley, as well as once for a walk with my dog.) I can't think of another coffee house that has been so consistently excellent.
They also can make the lattes with oat milk. That's good because oat milk allows me to keep drinking the espresso despite reflux, unlike regular milk.
Additionally, the people who work there have been uniformly nice and welcoming. Today, they even gave my dog some water. If I lived in or near Williamstown, I'm sure I'd hang out...

I enjoyed the bacon, broccoli and red pepper quiche. The pretzel turtle chocolate nibble was rich with caramel and balanced by the perfect pinch of salt.
Tunnel City roasts their own beans and the high quality flavor of the dirty chai I ordered speaks well of both the roaster and the barista.
I made a second trip to grab another dirty chai the next morning. It was superb. I also grabbed the most amazing blueberry raspberry bran muffin. Yes, bran. That muffin was delightfully moist and packed with berries. I regret not grabbing a second one for later.
Everyone who helped me at Tunnel City Coffee was polite and friendly. Stopping in here was one of the high points of my flying visit to...

I am glad that the owner, an affable man, upholds a policy of “no bare feet” as is common in most restaurants. The idiotic review on here by a barefoot man who felt hurt that he was asked to leave is exactly the sort of thing one would expect to find on the social media, especially in an age of fragility and the will to be a victim.
I always enter coffee shops and, actually, everywhere with shoes as is my practice. And I am glad of establishments such as this one that still uphold vestiges of...
