I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Main Line Tavern in Paoli, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I walked in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant set the tone for what would be an exceptional meal. But the true highlight of the evening was the outstanding service we received from Gwen, our server.
Gwen was beyond attentive without being overbearing—her timing was perfect. She had an uncanny ability to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them, and she delivered everything with a genuine smile that made us feel right at home. She took the time to recommend her favorite dishes, and let me tell you, she has impeccable taste. Every suggestion she made hit the mark, and she even accommodated some special dietary requests with ease and professionalism.
The food at Main Line Tavern was phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—but it was Gwen who elevated the entire experience. Her upbeat, friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of the menu made us feel like we were getting VIP treatment. It’s rare to find a server who blends efficiency with such personal care, and Gwen is a shining example of how exceptional service can turn a good meal into a great one.
If you're looking for a great spot in Paoli, I can't recommend Main Line Tavern highly enough—and be sure to ask for Gwen! You’ll be in the...

The food was ok. Simple but ok. We ordered easy things to make like Eggplant Parmesan. Looking at the menu there was a mix of dishes to order which ranged from low food cost to high. The high cost things were steaks etc and they seemed somewhat expensive for the calibre of the place. The lower cost food items were ridiculously priced. Fried chicken thighs for $22. Hello ! Two medium sized chicken thighs cost about a dollar each at Wegmans! That puts the food cost in about the 15% range which is stingy.
The waitress was a pain in the neck. "Are we having...?" "Have we dined here before?" Cloying nonsense ! How about " My name is __ , welcome to Mainline Tavern, can I get you a drink?" "Sorry young woman - I don't care who you are, please bring me food. Make sure it is hot and come back occasionally and ask if everything is okay. I'll leave you a tip. I'm sure you are nice but I'm not your buddy! I'm here for dinner not an experience.
The wine was overpriced as were the watered down cocktails. One wine I did not order is listed at $20 a glass. The wine is about $25 a bottle. That's a nice profit margin.
The place has no sound deadening so it is very noisy in the back room.
3.8 stars is far better than they deserve. Get there quick because the place will be out of...
Read moreWe went for lunch today and I don’t think we will be back. The filet cheesesteak did not have that much meat on it and the roll was so soggy a the whole thing feel apart as soon as they lifted it. The steak frites was supposed to come with truffle fries but they’re just regular fries with truffle drizzled on top of them. They tasted like regular fries. Maybe if they had an aioli or something to dip the fries in they would’ve been a tad better. The first order came with the steak sitting on top of them so they were completely soaked and soggy in steak juice. The drinks we had were a pineapple martini and a jalapeño-pineapple margarita and neither were very good. The pork flatbread was good. The margarita flatbread was not at all. My daughter didn’t want to really eat it. My son liked his pork sandwich. We also had the wing sampler and the blue cheese was so watery we didn’t eat the wings. The crab cocktail was good but would’ve been better if they provided and lemon aioli in addition to...
