Kanpai 1 — Restaurant in Wilmington Island

Okay, one of those restaurant makeover shows would have a FIELD DAY with this one:

1. tv over the bar was dead and had a layer of grease coating every inch, ceiling tiles broken and disgusting, specials menus looked 10+ years old & warped
2. kitchen looked dark with missing light bulbs - not ideal for food prep
3. my son and i both had gastro intestinal discomfort afterwards
4. we waited over 6 minutes for a simple greeting from an awkward mumbling teenager, only to be rescued by a kind Japanese waitress, our family was overlooked on purpose
5. we were offered "shrimp sauce" 5 times which locals seem to favor these massive bottles of refrigerated mayonnaise to slather on their bland food
6. mushroom "soup" was water, lacking mushrooms, no joke
7. both of our children hated their food finding it bland
8. to make up for no spices the yakisoba tasted like an abundance of soy sauce, waaay too salty
9. wife's curry entrée looked like green mucous lacking "vegetables" that were listed as ingredients
10. we only went here because Super Taste was closed
11. nothing has...

blonde waitress was horrible. Didn't introduce herself...forgot to take 3 peoples orders in our party for both food and drink...rushed us through taking our orders. someone ordered a lunch box and asked to have the rice substituted for noodles because she cant eat rice and the waitress assured her it was not a problem. When the lunch box was brought out it had rice on it and the waitress simply stated that they couldn't substitute without an explanation. When we asked why not all she said was "that's what I was told so here ya go" in a very rude manner. The kicker was that we were there to celebrate my brother whom just graduated for Marine bootcamp...and he was one of the people that she skipped over when taking orders....

The food was great and resturant had a lovely homely feeling. I don't know if this girl was new or inexperienced but she did not seem to know what she was doing. I don't think she should handle big parties or she should have more training in serving and...

Let's just say I won't be returning. The service was fine but I had felt so bad about complaining about the bug in my drink and the raw sushi that was cooked that by the time my dinner came I didn't want to complain about the over cooked steak I ordered medium rare that came out medium well. We did get a replacement bottle of saki on the house for the bug, but I left unsatisfied by the food in general and will not be returning. Also, there were bugs flying around my head and my date's head throughout the meal. In hindsight it is probably for the best that my food was cooked through...

Update: The restaurant decided to charge me twice on my account. It's a holiday so the bank is closed of course so I will not be able to fix this situation quickly. If you do eat here for some crazy reason - monitor your account closely or pay with cash... dropped rating from 2 star to 1...
