Kalbi Asian Bistro (Korean Restaurant) — Restaurant in Wilmington

I have traveled far and wide, and I can confidently say that Kalbi Asian Bistro serves the BEST Korean food in the entire country! Having been missing my hometown KBBQ, I was thrilled to discover this gem just 100 miles away. When I couldn't find Japchae anywhere nearby, the friendly young lady who answered the phone was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Her positive attitude set the tone for our visit.

Upon entering the bustling restaurant, we were promptly seated despite the lively atmosphere. We placed our order and enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed, even though we found out they were closing soon after we arrived. The food arrived hot and delicious, drinks were constantly refilled, and our waitress provided exceptional service.

I especially loved the playful interaction when I requested a to-go kimchi, with our waitress jokingly asking to see my plate to ensure I had finished my first serving. Auntie, I absolutely adore your food!

It's a nice sit down establishment, it opened at 11:00 I was seated and had my order taken by 11:05, I had ordered the bulgogi and a hot tea, she promptly brought out my hot tea and then she brought out six side dishes and the bowl of rice that accompanied my bulgogi, there was traditional kimchi, 3:00 little baby potatoes that were seasoned well, some mung bean sprouts that were seasoned some squash pickle also pickled daikon and carrot all of these were in separate dishes and gave me something to taste while I was waiting for the bulgogi but the bulgogi was promptly as well on a sizzling hot plate and it was not skimpy, the the marinade wasn't incredibly strong, but along with all of these vegetables and everything it was a very well-balanced flavor profile, and the portion along with all of the sides was only $20 and it was well worth it, notably She also asked me if I wanted any more sides as I was completing each one, I did decline because I was perfectly happy with the portion that she...

I just discovered this place today. I love korean food and this happens to be 5 minutes away from my work. The place is clean and cozy, they do both traditional korean dishes and Korean BBQ. Actually, it is pretty cool - each table has an electric stove top on it! I have only ever seen the burners built into tables or the well for hot coals to rest in.

Anyway, this place is great and I'll tell you why. The menu was large - offering many different of my favorite korean dishes! The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked to have a kimchi jiggae packed to go and the bag they gave me to leave was packed with the soup, the traditional side dishes they normally put on the table when you sit down to eat, and more kimchi! They did a great job and the soup was authentic and satisfying. Also my lunch was $8.00 for a nutrious healthy meal. Can't beat that!
