Totsy Turvy Cafe and Play — Restaurant in Wilton

The cafe is very cute. The location is not very easily found and yet no one answers the phone. I planned and went to go to the cafe on a Saturday hoping to have my 2 year old enjoy some playtime while I watch drank a coffee and use my time to also study. After driving an hour I was surprise to find very limited seating, the cafes area is mainly focused on the toddler section. Sitting is in front of the cashier and where the drink are prepared in a Very Narrow section. I was then told that my son could not partake in the play area because they were above capacity despite two or three kids walking out during the conversation ( and one during our entrance). No attempt was made to assist me despite my communication to them of the distance and my request to at least allow my son to play for 10-15 mins. Luckily one of the other cashiers later assisted me as I opted to ask if I could still place an order for drinks and she suggested a nearby area to take my son to play ( about 10 mins away). Other than that I ordered some fruit for my son and a coffee ( which was not good) and paid $15… The play area is very cute but that’s it and mostly for small toddlers I would definitely not recommend if your child is more than 5. I like the concept of Totsy and have been a member since they opened a year ago. My 2 year old loves it and is always excited to go. My mother takes her weekly, but unfortunately, there have been several times they have to leave soon after arriving simply because it's not a safe environment for my daughter to play due to old children running wild and being completely rambunctious. I saw another reviewer suggest age specific play times and I think this is a great suggestion. I have noticed the presence of staff on the floor tidying while kids are playing, but I've never seen staff address parents directly regarding their child's behavior. I'm sure it's not a comfortable interaction to initiate, but if you're going to allow older children, there has to be a way to ensure the safety of smaller children. Obviously my daughter is supervised and watched closely while playing but not being able to do the slide because older kids are at the top going crazy or having to worry about her being knockdown down while larger kids moving extremely fast is causing me to consider cancelling my membership and exploring the other indoor play place options...

I wanted to take the time to write this review since I have been to Totsy cafe several times now. We celebrated my daughter’s first birthday here and it was amazing! Charlotte was in charge of assisting us the day of the celebration and her personality and attitude is just the sweetest, kind and most professional that I have ever experienced. She and Bridget made sure all the decorations were on point and all the things necessary were ready to make sure the party ran smooth. I did not have to worry about a thing! SO WORTH IT! I have also been attending to the mommy and moi French class with madame Kimberly and we have had a very nice experience she is kind and very patient and babies actually recognize French words and love the songs and activities. Definitely sign up for a subscription if you are planning on attending classes. I’m also excited about them adding more classes during the week. General playing is good, sometimes PARENTS don’t watch out for their kids that’s just a parent thing and the staff is usually good at keeping an eye that they are not being to rough to others.
