This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I have been to Little Red Barn more than a year ago and decided to pay another visit for the sake of review. My experience was nice the first time, but the second time it was even better.
The space is huge. It has one indoor hall on the first floor, two separated indoor halls on the second floor, an outside patio and another patio on a deck. This setup makes it easy to isolate the space for any private events. In fact, there were 2 private events going during my visit and they did not bother the rest of the guests due to this isolation. There is a parking space right next to the brewery and a bigger parking lot on the next street.
I was pleased to see that the place has evolved so much since my last visit. They now have a full kitchen and a bar. Everything we ordered was top-notch - beers, food and cocktails. They have a wide selection of different varieties of beers, although IPAs have a bigger presence compared to other styles. You can order beer flights of 4. For this review I tried most of their offerings on tap. I particularly enjoyed the Little Red Palm Tree (Cream Ale) and Everyman's Porter. But I have to say that almost all their beers were solid.
Overall, me and my family enjoyed this place a lot. I will recommend it not just to craft beer enthusiasts, but also for anyone who likes good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuper-solid, scrumptious & delish food/gastro pub fare. So, I judge a place on details... by that I mean, the beer cheese for the Bavarian pretzel (authentic & house-made) & the sweet potato fries (waffle-style, which unique & super yummy... they say the "dirty tots" are like BBQ potato chips; try'em). These are indicative of a kitchen and chef who understands gastro pub/microbrewery. Nailed it!
Also, just as an observation, the last 4 or 5 "restaurant, old fashions," have been horrendous. Here... luscious! Their Maple Walnut Old Fashioned is/was excellent, and that's even despite it being made with Maker's Mark (sorry, bourbon snob). So enjoyable, I had two. š
I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap; house-breaded & fried, prior to being "wrapped;" excellent. Others in our big party... a grilled cheese, chicken tenders (like Raisin' Canes), Frickle Burger (fried pickles on top... tasty), Cheese burger(s)... house-pattied and succulent.
And that's not to mention... the beer! Pumpkin-spiced Cider... super-drinkable & dangerous. Roll in the Hay DIPA... a great beer!
Thoroughly enjoyed our time... eating, drinking and watching this little acoustic set from these teens.
And the staff, from Chris behind the bar; to owner Nils; to servers John & Stephanie; and manager Riley. Nice folks.
Job well done. Worth the Fall,...

Birthday dinner- poor dude- he had the crappiest dinner - or oh wait- he didnāt actually HAVE DINNER. It is 8:00 pm and we just left, no food! Yup. Approached the manager and she said āoh yeah there is a 2 hour wait for food!ā That might be something the waitresses should tell people about- however we didnāt actually see a lot of waitresses and had to literally get up from table anyone wanted something. Place was NOT packed. No excuses- only really poor management OR maybe donāt seat people if u have issues in the kitchen. NONE of us will Go near that place again. Save urself the time and go elsewhere (beer not even worth it). Off to Taco Bellā¦. Oh well. ...
