We came up from NY and very luckily happened upon the Railway Cafe. The first sign I saw upon entering is ‘woman owned business’ so GREAT JOB on that note! Everything was completely on par- to the point where I’m looking forward to returning in two weeks to Colebrook to stop in again! My very picky daughter ate all of her food and truly enjoyed a warmed up chocolate chip cookie, and I ordered a chicken salad wrap, which I wish I took one to go bc it was that good. My boyfriend was raving about his meal and the muffin he took to go, and when I finally tasted it (hours later back in NY) he was on point… it was phenomenal. To our server, I’m sorry I didn’t get your name, but I think for some reason your mom bakes for the restaurant??? If so, you were an absolute breath of fresh air and your mom’s baking is to die for! Thank you both for an excellent surprise on...

First time at this local Winsted establishment and very impressed. We arrived just after 11 AM which is when they take down the breakfast menu so we were only exposed to their lunch offerings - ended up taking their pulled pork BBQ sandwich and their tomato bisque soup - both very much to our liking. Coffee was nice and hot, service prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly. Decor and vibe are great. They go to a lot of trouble to use local ingredients with a farm-to-table ethic where possible. They make their own potato chips - very good. We will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to folk visiting with us from out of town.

Street entrance has steps - we had crutches and were able to easily enter using their side/kitchen entrance. Wheelchair would have been very tricky.

They have outside seating and various separate...

Low rate for service for experience - ordered drink and two items from menu - was told at time of ordering that one item was unavailable (not a big deal). Waiter came back a few minutes later that drink I ordered was not available and a few alternatives were also not available - so switched to water. Came back again later to tell me one other item was not available (so picked another option). Then order came out ~40 minutes after the initial order. Better communication between kitchen and staff might have helped avoid the multiple order updates when things weren't available. Hopefully will be better another time -...

Stopped here with ny husband yesterday and enjoyed a delicious meal together. Street parking was easy, we got a spot right out front. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, good coffee, and cute (well decorated) space. I got the special grilled cheese with ricotta and caramelized onions, absolutely scrumptious as the bread was well toasted and not at all burnt. My husband got the BBQ chicken wrap the ingredients were perfectly balanced, sauce wasn't oozing out. The floor to ceiling windows are a fun feature and allowed us to peek out at the foliage. A gem of a cafe; we'll be back when we're in the area again.

When the menu is small, the Food will be good. The menu here is small, and the food was superb. It was easy to pick what I wanted. The food itself was really good and made fresh. The hot chocolate with whipped cream wasn't overly sweet, I deeply appreciated that. The eggs and vegetables were cooked perfectly. 10/10 highly recommend. Prices are also very affordable and the food is filling. The staff was very attentive and cheerful. They carried themselves courteously and graciously. This place is one to visit if you're ever in the Winstead area.
