I did a quick google search of any Italian food restaurants nearby. Where Los Olivos Ristorante popped up. So I was inclined to try this restaurant out. I shortly noticed that this establishment had a google rating of 4.8 stars, which I have never seen any ratings that high for any place, let alone restaurant. When I arrived at the restaurant during dinner, I was not greeted right away when I stepped through the doors, due to the enormous influx of diners in the restaurant. The phones were ringing off the hook, and eventually, an employee approached me. The wait time for dine-in was an hour and a half and takeout would be 30 mins due to my not phoning ahead of time. I was baffled at how such a small restaurant would be so busy, so I left to try another time. I planned strategically to dine at this establishment right when it opened on a weekday. That is what I did, I arrived exactly at 2:30, on a Tuesday, and behold it was not busy. I sat down and looked over the menu, and what caught my eye was an intriguing signature salad. The Los Olivos salad is what I chose as a starter, and what I was craving was spaghetti and meatballs, so I ordered that as my entrée. Like any Italian restaurant, they start with some olive oil and bread, but this type of olive oil was freshly made with their spin of seasoning was amazing. All I can think at this moment was, Wow! I'm in for a treat when the salad and spaghetti & meatballs come out. I'm not a big fan of salads, but I wanted to see what would compel them to put the restaurant name on this garden salad. The dressing and fresh vegetables were so refreshing that it spiked my appetite for the entrée. When the spaghetti arrived, I dove right into devouring it without hesitation. The angel pasta was incredible, the way it was dressed with a little bit of olive oil for it to be smooth. The two meatballs were gigantic and were laughable because I knew I could not finish this and I'd have to take it home. Everything in this restaurant was fresh and so enjoyable, I wish they offer a service where I can pay monthly for them to come over to my house and cook dinners. I highly recommend anyone looking for some authentic Italian cuisine visit this place. 5-star service/5-star food as well. Will be coming...
Read moreHad such a good time here last night! Like all the other reviews have mentioned, this is a small hole in the wall hidden gem, and you definitely need reservations. We called in advance and got one no problem. It is run solely by a family of 3 people. Albino is the owner who makes all the food himself, and Irma, his wife, serves the customers. They were super personable and we got amazing service, which really made our time here special!
All the other customers in the restaurant were regulars who have eaten here for years, which can tell you a lot about how good this place is. One of the other families even shared their bottle of wine with our table. Los Olivos doesn’t have a liquor license, so you can bring your own bottles of wine with no corkage fee! It was a really fun and friendly atmosphere, with all the tables chatting.
Don’t fill up too much on the tasty breadsticks, because the portions of food are HUGE when they come out. I could barely finish my capellini pomodoro, which was delicious, with a tasty sauce where you could taste the freshness of the garlic, tomato, and basil. I would consider the quality of the food to be very good, on par with a number of our favorite local spots like Nora’s and Roma Deli. The ambiance is simple but cozy, and the dishes are extremely reasonably priced. But the best part for me was the fun atmosphere and the excellent service, as well as the knowledge that we were really directly supporting a local family and their restaurant.
Chef Albino came out at the end of our meal to talk with us, and told us that he can make basically any dish upon request with a day’s notice. He offered to make saltimbucco, osso buco, or even a custom vegan pasta dish with vegetables for me. Seems like they can be very vegan/vegetarian friendly because they can really customize the menu to nearly anything that one would want to order. It was nice getting to talk with the chef and having such a personalized experience here. Can’t wait to come back and try the gnocchi that they...
Read moreTruly a gem among gems in Las Vegas. Chef Albino is very talented with Italian cuisine (my wife and I just came back from our honeymoon in Italy and the verdict was this place was just as good, if not better than most of the places on our Italian food excursions). Everything on the menu is superb. MAKE A RESERVATION. Place is tiny. Bring your own bottle of wine, no corkage fee. My favorites, Los Olivos salad, crab cakes, Cioppino, Chicken Piccata with the vegetables and potatoes, and a side of angel hair pasta with piccata sauce. Eat here, you won't regret it. He even catered a dinner party I hosted for 25 people and the catered food was excellent. I will post more pics on our next visit here.
Want more to read here's an updated review for 09/18/2022: My wife and I celebrated our 3-year anniversary and we decided to come back to the place where we had our first date. The food was amazing back then and it is still amazing today. Chef Albino is a culinary genius. Italian food here is one of the best I've ever had. Every dish has been delicious throughout the years and the quality has not diminished.
Today it was the second time that the gnocchi was sold out. I think this is the only dish I have not tried here, so I'll have to try it next time. We went with some of our usual favorites. Caesar salad and calamari appetizer to start. The Los Olivos salad is also amazing if you're not craving Caesar salad. For my main course I went with my favorite dish, the Chicken Piccata, which comes with a side of vegetables. The chicken, the sauce, the capers, the dish itself just jibes very well. My wife ordered the Cioppino with a side of angel hair pasta in marinara sauce. The Cioppino is loaded with a ton of amazing seafood in a soup that is to die for. Dip some of their fresh bread in the soup and you're in for an experience. We were too stuffed to try for a dessert but their tiramisu is great here if you find yourself craving some dessert...
