Windber Hotel — Restaurant in Windber

There won't be any second time!! First off this is not our waitress fault. She kind of warned us in the beginning when she said people usually just order apps lol . We should have listened. Our waitress was great!!!! The food was not that great and to be charged that amount for what we got is sooooo wrong. Prices to high for the quality they serve. I had a steak and surf sandwich, which only had 3 shrimp and was so greasy. I Was kind of glad it was so small, it was probably on a 4-in bun. And when my son doesn't eat his sandwich which was a patty melt. I know something's wrong. Plus for the amount of money you pay for a sandwich you should be able to get some kind of sides with it. but No apps were up to $7.99 each. But the 3 we did order tasted tasted all the same ( funnel cake batter). My husband always only orders fries with cheese or gravy. Cheese watery. Honestly the gravy was so thin you dipped your fry can no gravy was on the fry. He was very disappointed because that's all he has fries and gravy or cheese. We would have loved to order chicken wings but it was so dark in there I was afraid to order chicken wings. From someone who has had salmonella poisoning from a restaurant we ate at before. it's very important to me that I make sure that they are cooked but We couldn't even see our food. It was so dark. Really glad we didn't get wings and the quality of food we ordered. Best part was The waitress was so great and took care of all our needs, but the food was ridiculously high for the taste. I would say Enjoy the beer then order food after a few drinks, it might taste better and you won't see the food your eating anyway. Very Disappointing. It was our first time and it will be our last. I would not recommend if you are going to a concert at the nearby Arcadia unless you arrive 2 1/2 hours or more prior. After being told by phone reservations were "not necessary" our party of 4 still made them. We waited 15 minutes for wait staff to recognize us with a drink order. We noted we were going to the Arcadia. More waiting for the drinks and food order. Rather simple order of appetizer and dinner salads. NOTHING for one hour as waiter seemed to ignore us. When I noted we could wait no longer he brought the bill for the drinks, then he delivered the appetizer well over 1 hour after our order. During that hour+ he never checked back, never offered an explanation, no discounts due to wait .... Nothing. We had similar poor service during a prior visit, which is why I am writing now. A friend who goes to numerous concerts at the Arcadia said she always dines in Richland area due to ..... guess what .... poor...

What a wonderful experience! The food is excellent, a beautiful historical building, the bar area is the old-fashioned bar back. The staff and patrons are very friendly, the type of place that no one is a stranger. The family that owns the hotel are great. They make everyone feel like a part of the family. They annual fundraiser they host for the Humane Society is outstanding, with a great basket raffle all to help our 🐕 🐈 pets. These folks at the Winber Hotel should have an extra star in each category plus one more for community, and in that category, they deserve big 🌟. I look forward to eating there often.
