This is the best Mexican restaurant perhaps in all of Connecticut. I am Mexican and trust me that the only place you can find real authentic DELICIOUS tacos like these besides here is in Mexico.
Fair prices for what you get; fresh veggies, fresh meats, and best of all the delicious fresh hand made tortillas.
I've tried dozens of mexican restaurants in all CT and not a single one compares to this one.
Everyone is so nice here, too. I've got to know almost everyone here and they are amazing and super friendly.
These tacos are so, so good that even my kid who NEVER EVER eats meat (I think she is a "vegetarian") she makes the exception to eat the carnitas tacos in this place. She can eat a whole pound of carnitas by herself - no joke - Otherwise she refuses to eat any kind of meat at home and other restaurants. That's how good the tacos are in La Rosa. Lol.
I drive almost an hour, btw, to get these delicious tacos and huaraches. The drive is worth it. I do recommend, however, that if you have the chance to go and eat there in the restaurant to do so. Nothing compares to a taco freshly made and eat it right out of the comal. Specially the tripas ones.
Si eres Mexicano y andas buscando un lugar chingon de tacos neta neta este es el lugar. Si has ido a los camiones en New Haven y piensas que están buenos allá entonces no sabes que son tacos de verdad. Jajaja.
Read moreWent there for a school field trip for a Spanish class. When we walk in it was very dirty and there were cheap fake plants hanging over some of the seats. We waited for what felt like forever before the waitress even acknowledged our table. We were a table of 6 and we all ordered plain quesidas. She asked what we wanted to drink and one of my friends ordered a passion fruit drink and after waiting for 20 minutes she walked back to our table and gave everyone their drinks and then informed us that my friend couldnt have her passion fruit drink because they ran out. This would have been understandable if she hadn't given the last one to another person who ordered after us. When we finally get the food, it was warm on the outside and cold in the middle. The cheese looked like the stuff you get in the grocery store that comes in the individual packs. And after only a few bites almost everyone at our table was nauseous and we ended up just eating the salt they provided. 2 of the people at our table ended up throwing up their food. I'm all about supporting small businesses but when the quality is that low the only thing that place was remembered for the rest of the school year was a really inconsistent, poorly managed restuarant that no one wanted...
Read moreI've been eating here for close to ten years, but I cant force myself to anymore, an I can't recommend it to anyone else. The food is wildly overpriced now, especially considering the quality. Consistently cold , bland and greasy. The number of times I've ordered the pork and received a big clump of arteries mixed in, or some similar inedible thing is too high🤢. very unpleasant surprise.
The inconsistency of the pricing is something else I want to mention. The menu price usually is illegible, and the total just comes as a surprise at the end. I routinely pay more then the person directly in front of me for the same item, and I really don't think I'm imagining that.
In lieu of eating here, I highly recommend trying any other local place, you might find a new...
