The last few times we have went, it has been a similar story. Shaky service, long wait, great food. This time unfortunately it was awful service, long wait, gross food.
When we first arrived we stood at the front waiting to be greeted for roughly 4-5 minutes. Once greeted we were told they just had to clean a table and we would be seated. Another 10-15 minutes goes by (keep in mind the restaurant is not very busy and there is no one in front of us) and then the table finally gets cleared, however, we are sat at a different table in the back of the restaurant that was actually cleared the whole time.
Once we are sat we are left with a water pitcher and some metal tins to drink out of. I'm not sure if it was the fact that the tins were recently washed but they tasted of a harsh metal or of a dish cleaner? Another 7 minutes or so goes by and the server finishes up taking the table next to us's order and realizes we haven't even ordered drinks. At this point we order our entrees and the wait begins. Again, we are excited to eat because in the past it has ALWAYS been delicious and the poor service was honestly worth it. Unfortunately once the food did come out it was a major disappointment. Not only did the server not know what items she was bringing us, she told us to cut into the burrito so she could make sure that it was the right item?? Everything was way greasier than usual and lacked flavor in almost every area. Not god awful food, but absolutely not worth the money we were going to spend. We only took a few bites of our meals and decided we were done. When the server came to check on us she took the plates that were hardly touched with no hesitation or concern as to why we didn't eat the majority of our food.
In all honesty, this place has a ton of potential. Amazing atmosphere, great recipes & a vision that could truly reign successful for decades. However, the employees lack training and customer service skills (majority of them were younger and visually gossiping with eachother at the bar instead of checking on their tables) and the kitchen must be lacking a quality control step or two. At the end when waiting for our server to cash us out, we had the opportunity to speak with what appeared to be the bar manager (black shirt, tattoos) and he was apologetic, kind, & more than reasonable. It seems as is he was aware of the flaws and doesn't have the support to make the improvements needed.
Owner- Please take charge and make the changes necessary for your business to succeed, you have clearly poured a lot of heart into this business and the majority of your staff doesn't care enough maintain it. Good staff IS hard to come by but I would refrain from employing high school girls with attitudes & a brutal lack of understanding of the menu, unless a very rigorous trainer can teach them the...
Read moreI am going to be a littler tougher on this as we are big on tacos and Tequila. I've been really excited for this place to open up. First and foremost, the setup and atmosphere is awesome!! Huge bar area downstairs, with some dining seating, and plenty of seating upstairs with a small bar seating. I personally think they'll need more seating once this place takes off.
The employees were awesome!! I mean that. They were all working hard. All working as a team and all were as friendly as could be.
Here is where I will be a little harder...
This is a tacos and Tequila spot. Their tacos are 100% street tacos. We all had different ones and I will say that they were very good. However, half of them were cold. None of them were more than warm. One employee did mention they had this issues before and they are working to resolve. Not the end of the world. We at all the tacos and paid for them as well.
We also tried a variety of different Tequila drinks and I will say that they are a little pricey for what you get. The mango margarita was okay. The Oaxacan Old Fashion was very good, but I do believe quantity to pricing should be a little more balanced. The El Diablo was balanced on both and no complaints.
Overall, this is going to be a really awesome taco place for Windsor. They could improve on small things, but nothing that should make your dining experience a bad one. We are excited to eat here on a...
Read moreThis place is so good holy shit Started out with the ghost guacamole which was definitely spicy but not overly hot. If you're sensitive to heat, I don't recommend that dish, but you can just order the regular guacamole and I'm sure it'll be just as good. The chips were also nice and warm which made everything taste even better (if that was possible lol)
I find that tacos are super hit or miss across a menu but the 3 I tried were all amazing Great flavor combinations and sauces. The meats aren't too greasy or dry and there's a good range of tacos to choose from They're a pretty decent size so 3 was more than enough for sure
Their tequila selection is great as well! We tried a gold house tequila and was surprised at the quality so if you like taking shots, I highly recommend 🥃 I tried a habanero strawberry margarita which had the flavors from the habanero but not too much heat to overtake the strawberry 🍓
I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Colorado 💖
