Baja Restaurant — Restaurant in Winfield Township

Been going here on and off for years due to such a lack of places to choose from to eat in tiny town of Winfield. Decided after visit this week, McDonald's will get my money before Baja's ever again. First off owner lost his mind increasing every menu item a dollar and yet quality of food went down. You order a reuben, you get what looks and tastes like store packaged buddig lunch meat instead of quality cooked and thinly sliced delicatessen grade corned beef, the burgers are overcooked and chewy, the lemon rice soup is so thickened with starch to increase quantity its really a thick paste instead of soup and has ZERO lemon flavor not to mention the off putting color of beige. Food is bland and not appetizing like a round the clock or Dennys. I don't understand how it has so many high reviews here other than most are older reviews and the regular clientele don't get out of Winfield too often to eat at places that pride themselves on giving you a quality product and the competion in Winfield is very low. They have had better food at one time, but not in 2020. Positive note is wait staff...

I never understood serving only part of breakfast after a certain time. I usually get the Denver omelette with sausage gravy on top. But can't get sausage in the evening. My husband got the beef manhattan and he was unhappy with it. The one piece of bread on the bottom was super thin and small looked as if it was dipped in water first. It was nasty. It looked like it was soggy from something clear. He said it was on the bland side. I asked him if he would get it again and he said no. He had the chicken enchilada soup it was just okay. It tasted more like chili than anything. Our servers there are always nice and do a good job. The restaurant always appears to be clean. I ordered 2 Denver Omelets for both me and my husband today. We've ordered the same Omelets before and there wasn't any issues. This time the Omelets were overcooked and didn't have any cheese in it. When I call to inform the restaurant that they didn't put cheese on the Omelets and they were overcooked, they said the Denver doesn't come with cheese. I told her that according to the menu posted under their restaurant name it does come with cheese. She got really angry and put me on hold. Someone came back to the phone and I asked for the Manager who was Mohammed. He told me the same thing. Horrible customer service and the Omelet wasn't good and overcooked. We will not be returning.
