El Tapatio — Restaurant in Winner

I made an order to go at the counter. They were friendly and quick to make and package our order.

The Chile Verde was excellent, the Warm Queso dip is yummy, and their guacamole had huge pieces of avocado (just could've had more seasoning).

It's never a great idea to order nachos to go, but I did anyway and they weren't bad, just would've been better served immediately, but that's my fault for getting loaded nachos to go! They were Nachos Supreme and had chicken, ground beef, and beans on them.

The one thing that wasn't good was the Chile Relleno on my Lunch #1. It tasted like it was fried a while ago in old oil.

Also the guy who took my order and I had some misunderstanding when I asked for what my daughter wanted which was what we call cheese enchiladas (they call it burritos); meaning two flour tortillas filled with cheese and covered with enchilada sauce, with beans and rice on the side. I thought I explained that we'll enough. What she got was two flour tortillas filled with rice and beans covered with their queso cheese dip sauce. She said it was good, but it took us a minute to figure out what it was!

We are from the Pacific Northwest and eat a lot of Mexican restaurant food. This place is a comparable to those....

Traveling for work like usual. Came across this gem today and couldn’t believe how good and authentic it is! This restaurant in a town of 3k people? Seriously?

Mexican flavors were authentic, really quite good. Plates were beautiful. Chips and salsa starter, chips were fresh and the salsa delicious!

Staff was very friendly and attentive.

The price is amazing! Very reasonable! Reminds me of a place I used to go to all the time in Mexico except over there they all wear tuxedos.

I will be in the area for a good part of next week and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu items! Highly recommend!!

Food, drinks were very good. What was a enjoyable evening quickly turned bad when went to pay bill. Almost a $70 bill for 3 people. Gave waiter gift certificate with check for balance plus tip. Waiter starts screaming that we didn't give a big enough tip. " I don't work for free you know!!!!" Demanded a $20 tip! Kept banging on receipt about the $20 tip and yelling at us about " I don't work for FREE!!!!" Wanted his $20 tip. Yelled at us forever as we're trying to leave. Sorry we are on a limited income, be grateful you got the tip you got ( which I HAD to write a new check for ).
